What does Solo mean to you?
 

As a category, how would you define solo -
1. Content showing just a single girl (or guy).
2. Content where they play with themselves (as in solo sex).
3. Content of a model that has her/his own solo site, focusing on them, but the content can depict them with another person.

Or all of the above? I see some LL's had "solo girl" as a category, but then they may or may not have masturbation and/or pornstar as additional categories, so I'm not sure.

It all depends on where you're standing :D

Amateur websites - like KatVixen.com - somehow became Solo Girl websites, meaning the site is based on one female. Personally (and this is all speculation) I think this was because the think is that the female was not truly an amateur if she's not running her own site (or having her husband/boyfriend run it) So when Lightspeed & Tawnee Stone came along, she was not an amateur & a new "niche" was created: The Solo Girl

Now, solo can also mean nude and/or alone - that's where the toy & nude categories come into play.

Then there's the oddest niche I've every come across: Solo Gay Men. I think it's odd because you've never seen a Solo Lesbian Women category...or site! There's a tangent on this subject about (stereotype) flaming gay sites VS (stereotype) dyke mullet lesbian sites, but that's a discussion for another time.

Solo gay men is actually the niche that made me think about the whole thing. Submitting sites promoting sites dedicated to one guy, was wondering if they go into the solo guy category, or was that reserved to guys jacking off?

reserved to guys jacking off, I'd say. Content gives you the category, not the site you're promoting.

I'd say these are pretty much the same, unless 1) is about glamour photos, which I don't think it's the case here (ok, maybe with the exception of babes category, where you could probably get away with pictures w/o any content).

For me - the native meaning of word "Solo" - one,alone says it pretty much. Single girl/guy, some toys/objects could be involved, but no other person.
So - yes for 1 & 2, but a no for 3 - as it is more like a couple thing.

Then again it's just me, for what it's worth.

Makes me think of the site http://www.withmarcello.com/ He is a solo guy site, and I'm guessing he is gay, but any time I've seen where there is another person on the site, they are completely covered (mask) so you can't tell the sex of the person, so it sells to women too. So he could be sort of solo gay and solo straight, lol.

One of the TGPs that I submit to has a solo lesbian category. Not really sure what one would submit to this category. Dykezilla butches maybe?

Actually, there's no way to tell. Straight guys is a huge niche in the gay market, so yes, a solo guy can be totally straight. The category is often names "solo guys" and not "solo gay" |huh
