Researching gathering on porn sites
 

i hope this is the right place to post this. |waves|

im working on a start up geared at the adult entertainment market, aka porn sites. this project is poised to help new and existing porn sites. since this is a forum of various members (eg: site webmasters and actors/actresses), i figure this would be the best place to get some input.

we all know that the internet porn is a $100 billion world wide market and its always increasing each year. But what i am more interested in is the what, why, when, where of porn sites that typical research does not include.

if we ever make it big, ill know where to return the favors to |thumb

Newfie hydro, nice stuff, not so harsh, creeper with a bit of a skunk flavour, mostly sativa, which I prefer. Indica turns me into a vegetable. ;)

everyone on this board has a minimum of one web site (some have hundreds) everyone maintains their own sites, the reason why they call the board "the ultimate webmaster resource" is because were all webmasters or wannabe's doing our own thing
plus it's pretty ballsy to ask for everyones email address on your first post

You say you want to start a website "poised to help new and existing porn sites", yet you clearly haven't got the foggiest idea of what running a porn business entails. Exactly what kind of service are you planning to offer?

you are right. i have no idea what it takes to go around linking stuff, finding different porn stuff to put on my site, i dont where to go. im never said im the "know all" for that now did i?

i am not intersted where you get your content from. that is not what i was asking people for.

what i am more interested is the technical aspect of running porn sites. i am sure many of you host on virtual web accounts or on dedicated servers with the many different hosting companies on the internet. i was trying to gather peoples opinion on their technical issues they face with their sites and or hosting providers.

if you have a team of developers that handle coding your site, then say that. no need to criticize me when all im asking for is your help with my research. i didnt ask anyone to build me a site, so why get so pissy?

so if you want to help me out and tell me about your problems with your hosting/web platform, then do so. if not, then go about your daily routine and pretend you never read this thread.

Your survey should ask a series of multiple choice questions. No one is going to take the time to write long answers to general questions. That's where you need to do your homework. Determine what those questions and choices should be in order to get the information you're looking for.

Why is it that you don't have any direct questions about hosting on your little survey, KillerASP? Your questions are far too vague and the fact that you didn't bother informing us of your survey's goal is rather off-putting.

BTW, I wouldn't have completed the survey anyway due to the lack of proper capitalization in your posts. Yes - I am that anal. If you want to taken seriously as a business person, portray yourself as one, yo!

The problem here is also that you are not actually collecting data - you are only gathering slighted opinions. There is 'real' data out there which offers more real world fact than opinion. Off the top of my head there are university studies like ""Eros Unbound: Pornography and the Internet" from Indiana University and others which offer as close to realistic guesses as anyone can offer. But its all mainly one big guess...

And even to a bona fide researcher - a lot of the info about the adult entertainment industry will always remain simply guesswork and extrapolation of tiny details. There is no real 'adult industry' lobby, no credible trade associations, no honest revenue statistics - its a world of somewhat closely guarded techniques and revenues; more often than not, inflated for self-importance or self-protection of trade secrets.

But if your goal was to find out about hosting and technical issues your posting was misleading and off-the-goal. I mean what 'start-up' can "expand" into anything? That's a contradiction in terms... And to ask multiple open-ended questions and expect essay-type answers? Just simply makes no sense at all.

Sorry, but your questions and methodology are just too flawed to offer any credibility.

And to stay in context of the thread, all decent adult webmasters know than quality sativas are infinately better for production staff and fine indicas best reserved for the friends that performers bring with them to shoots.
