Overture's "Content Match" not so great, turn it off
For those few of us doing overture, I suggest you turn off their new Content Match, lots of extra clicks with poor results.
They seem to be pushing it more on their so-called partners, who knows how they are selecting the 'content match', but I am not satisfied. Still seeing lots of instability in the overture listings, people jumping in front of me with a higher per-click, then disappearing quickly. Every week I tell myself I should shut it off, then I make just enough to say "lets try one more tweak...". |

I just turned off Googles Content targeting as well today...was costing alot more money that it was worth.

Bill - Im glad you mentioned that - I only had it on for a few campaigns but boy did the ROI suck - its off here :)
CelticTiger - I've actually had some successes with Google's version in the non-adult side - haven't tried it on the adult side of things as it seemed kinda pointless - don't know for sure but it would seem that with their new phrase algo having so many problems it would be about the same for that tool??? |
Linkster, I wasn't paying proper attention myself, and lost a few hundred before I caught on and corrected things. What with the heavier traffic from overture in general both my target pages and my link text weren't as good as they should have been. A few hours work, and things are much better now, same amount of sales, but much fewer clicks.
It was nice to have overture approve all the changes first time, despite the fact that I made large changes. |
