PimpRoll Movie Galleries - Movies Don't Play?

I started to make a few FS and use PimpRoll movie FHG. Well I got rejected at a few LL for movies not playing or for movies being only a couple of seconds long |cry| (although they seem to play fine for me)
I had the same problem before with their downloaded movie content.

Anyone else had this problem, or is it just me picking the wrong FHG. I know some of you are using PimpRoll the same way, any rejections? If you don't want to post here, please PM me.

Hi TekAngel!

I haven't had any rejections yet but did get a email asking for me to recheck them as they weren't working for him.

They seem to be working fine on my end.

Does it play a couple of seconds and then stop? I haven't built any FS with them yet, but I had a couple of their clips on my main site with that problem using their hosted clips.

It might be a good idea to talk to pimproll support on this. They have a message board or you can contact them on icq during biz hours.

Posting the link so we could give feed back would help as well to the gallery in question.

Or hit up your icq list of people and ask them to give it a try.

If there is a problem with someone playing them try to isolate what system they are on, what browser, etc. Then you have some input you can give the pimproll people to see if they can reproduce the issue.

I just ran all of the above clips to see what was going on.

Only one of them worked for me in IE7 and when i tried to re play it, it failed. I then tried the same links in Firefox and Netscape and they all worked prefectly regardless of how many times I played them. btw I also cleaned out the temp internet files, cookies and history in case this had something to do with the problem.

I also checked a number of other movie links from pimproll with the same result, so it does seem that they have an issue with their clips being opened in IE7 at the moment.

Just to be doubly sure I also checked some other movie clips from other sponsors and they all played fine in all of the browsers.

Weird. They all worked in both for me |huh
I'm using a freaky OS though, Indego

I just ran through submits on my LL and those with pimproll movie links worked fine this morning and have been accepted. Oddly enough though, only two of the links in emmy's post work while the rest still stop after a second or so |huh

Low budget works. Open and re-save the clips with windows movie maker. It does not fix the time index but it normally solves the "not opening" problem. It depends how badly the clip was chopped but it normally solves the vid / sound sync problem as well.

Tekster 2008-08-06 09:41 AM

Well, I don't know what to say here. I talked to Glen from PimpRoll on ICQ and I guess the clips play fine for him on IE7.

They will check with the tech. Until then, I guess I will move on to different sponsors. :(

Thanks everyone for the help.

When I go to play them, using QuickTime in Safari or Firefox, they skip to the end after less then one second and then I have to rewind them and then they play properly.

Simon 2008-08-06 10:37 AM

Exactly the same as Cleo's result here, using same browsers with QuickTime. They zip to the end like they're only a second or two long. But if you start them over again they play the way I'd expect.

james-st did you reply for this thread ?

Greenguy 2008-08-23 09:28 PM

Just for the record, using IE7 & WMP11, they do not play the 1st time I click them (just a still image loads) but they do play the 2nd time I click them.

But seeing as writing notes to surfers on how to get the movies to play is not a good idea, I have to reject them :(

Hit Man 2008-08-28 01:09 PM

Hey guys, It took us a while to lock down what the problem was so sorry for the delay. We have found that our cutting process has corrupted the files a bit so they don't work with some browsers, however, we have fixed this problem and are in the process of reencoding these clips. After that we will upload them all to the servers and this will take a while to sync as well. So i've been told that this problem should be all fixed within the next 48 hours or so.

Again sorry for any problems this may have caused and thanks for helping point this out for us.

Greenguy 2008-08-28 04:01 PM

Good to know Pimp Roll is on the case |thumb

Hit Man 2008-08-29 02:36 PM

Ok just an update, I've just been told that they are fixed, uploaded and synced (if thats a word anyway) so should be back and ready for action ;)

again sorry for this problem and thanks for helping us spot it.

If there's one thing we're good at, it's finding faults in others :D
