.mpg's got changed to .wmv
 

I downloaded some .wmv movies the other day and now every movie on my computer that was.mpg is now changed to .wmv. How did this happen?? |huh

Are you sure Windows Media Player didn't just reassociate the icon for .mpg with .wmv? If you look in File Explorer, with extensions turned on, they should still be .mpg. I can't imagine the time it would take for some program to reconvert all of your vids.

Also, every movie I've downloaded in the past from Traffic Cash Gold has been .mpg but I just got one and it's .wmv and I haven't changed any settings. Weird

Your hard drive browser. Called Explorer in Windows or The Finder on a Mac.

Personally I'm guessing that Sparky is correct and they just have been given the wrong file extension.

Nope, they've all been changed to .wmv and open in a different viewer than the viewer the .mpg's opened in.

What's a fake codec? I downloaded some .wmv content from a sponsor I haven't used before and now all my .mpg's are changed. I don't have a lot on my computer but what I have got changed. I'm baffled and want my .mpg's back |cry|

Like I said, all the movies I've downloaded from Traffic Cash Gold are .mpg's and now when I download one it downloads as a .wmv. I change it to .mpg before the download starts and when I go to view it I get a message that says it might not play correctly but it does. |huh
