Dynamic Freesites?

This is something I have never seen mentioned on any LL rule page, but I thought I should ask before designing my sites like this...

Would you list a freesite that followed all of the rules/standards, but the URL was something like..

http://www.site.com/freesites/index....hothornysluts1

And if not could you explain why not?

justbondage 2008-09-06 06:27 PM

For example, here is a quick one I knocked together - ignoring layout, are the links between the pages and overall URL ok?

I think the big problem with that is most LL (if not all) won't allow PHP code on freesites.

justbondage 2008-09-06 07:06 PM

Ahh, I did not know that! Cheers!

Also MML pointed out in the chat room that ?anything=whatever is a huge no no anyway.

I shall have to so some more thinking haha!

Tomas-R 2008-09-07 02:30 AM

I think it will be decline or banned

Greenguy 2008-09-07 05:20 AM

Can I ask why you'd want to do that? Is it a tracking of some sort?

Toby 2008-09-07 05:32 AM

You could get around using the .php?=parameter by placing the parameter as a folder name in the URL and using a mod rewrite in .htaccess, but I'm wondering the same thing as Greenie. What's the advantage of using it?

justbondage 2008-09-07 08:11 AM

I had a script made for something else years ago, and with a quick tweak I was able to make that entire freesite in under 5 minutes, if I was able to get my methods working correctly I would have been able to make probably close to 50 freesites in an hour, then my time would be spent playing about with layout, finding the right places to submit to, seeing which banners/ads work best etc.

There was no real advantage of using the param really, it just meant less fiddling with the old script!

secretagentwilly 2008-09-07 12:47 PM

50 freesites an hour? Is the quality still there?

justbondage 2008-09-07 01:21 PM

I guess we will never know! But it would basically have been building on the idea of using a template to speed things up.

papagmp 2008-09-07 07:44 PM

I looked into this a while back - even had Greg play with the code a little.

We had it so far that we could export the FS to clean html code when done but the FS's all looked the same and it was difficult to tune the text and banners to match the content. IMO - sales would have dropped.

I also found that the time to organize the content was the same - so we could have never achieved the 50 FS's an hour no matter what. Maybe 2 in a hour if the content was ready - and pulled off our already 100% automated members/affiliate area. It still takes 15 minutes minimum to make sure the whole thing is logical and all the links are good.

Of course - this is what most hosted galleries do - that's why so many of them SUCK!

justbondage 2008-09-08 02:09 AM

Yeah, this was my problem - not making the images just slot into a generic and never changing layout (without generating several random features that killed stuff all over the place)

I have an automated script for resizing images and selecting say 24 out of a group of 100, keeping them in order and renaming them - it is fairly handy and set up to take an equal amount from each quarter, so the content flows, but you still need to cast an eye over the output!

Back to the drawing board! lol.

Greenguy 2008-09-08 09:13 AM

So why not build the site, save copies & upload it? It'd add another 5 minutes to the process & you'd still save time.

justbondage 2008-09-08 02:15 PM

I may do, as I mentioned it was simply an old script I had that I tweaked dead quickly as an experiment more than anything else.

It has got me thinking however and I may try and get something knocked up that would speed up the process a bit - if anyone runs PHP and would like me to send them anything I do make so they can play about just let me know.

further more you could change SSI to include .html in the apache config, the use apache mod rewrite to grab directory: www.site.com/081109/STRING_TO_GRAB_1/index.html
simply embed a per script into the page with SSI, would look like HTML page, after it was generated, still this would be a pain in the ass for a directory structure and take alot of mod rewrite..

p3rlphr33k 2008-09-11 04:02 AM

wow sorry for all the typo's I think it's time for me to get some sleep..
But while we are on the topic of what is allowed, I am actually working on a page, I though it looked better to put a few thumbs above my main site banner, is this allowed or must the banner be on the top?

I think if you read most LL's rules, scripts are forbidden in freesites - and for good reason. And most of us know to look past the .php extension.

If you want to create dynamically, then export to a truly static page, I have no problem with the whole concept (providing the freesite looks decent and follows the rules for template use).

Leave the script on the page and you'll get blacklisted pretty quickly on most LL's.
