Who here has been looking for help and had not found it

Or simply not found enough of the help they need

I have been in this industry for 10 years and even though I have not posted here much, I am on a bunch of other boards.

Feel free to ICQ me at any time for some help.

Are you willing to help here, or only via ICQ and that "bunch of other boards"?

Greenguy 2008-11-19 06:55 PM

I think that's kinda rude. Do I go to your affiliate programs & try to steal affiliates? No. So don't come to my webmaster board & try to steal members.

Go pretend to be helpful someplace else.

NY Jester 2008-11-22 02:51 AM

....that was helpful

"Who here has been looking for help and had not found it"

Not me. I've always found the help I need right here.
Always.

Pretty lame thread PG.

This place is by far and away the most helpful place online.

For some one who no's nothing about be that was quite a RUDE Statment. I am not LOOKING TO STEAL any members from your site. Did I say I was trying to get them to another board?? NO, I have not posted here very much and since I have not people dont know me. But I HAVE posted on other boards more and thats HOW they can find out more about me if they care to.

You have been in this business long enough to know that you have nothing to worry about with the other boards, Thats why you are still here.

That is GREAT to hear.. Does NOT ALWAYS happen on this or other boards.

Good for you and two thumbs up.

Narrow minded. It is helpful but not the most.

Personally I came here to help others, ( YES GET SOME NEW AFFILIATES ) and to be a part of the board. But this greeting leaves a bad taste.

Its not easy to help people on a board because 1 you have to wait for them to post back. If it's ICQ or aim, then its right there right then. 2 you also have others posting in the thread and it can get confusing for the person trying to learn.

Just my thoughts.

By the way thanks for removing my ICQ number from the thread. and HAD ANY OF YOU BOTHERED TO READ you would have seen the part that says. (((((( Or simply not found enough of the help they need ))))

But I know. Its tuff you read the entire thing, make sure you understand and NOT JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS.

Pagan 2008-11-26 07:10 PM

and.. you want to show people how helpful you are? Hmm.. okay. If you have been around the industry as long as you claim, you would know better than to start such a thread. Geeze, next you will be ranting about squishing bugs or playing tennis!

Perhaps if you had tried to be a part of the community first? 17 posts in over a year isn't a huge number. Perhaps if you had shown us you had something worth while to contribute? What is your field of expertise? Freesites? Hot Air? Galleries? Pipedreams? Blogs? BS? CSS? SEO? LLs?

And yes.. I have been around this board, much more reading than posting, from almost day one. I have never seen an honest question be refused honest answers, or heard of a webmaster that has gone without receiving help. Other boards? Good luck. Yeah, I have accounts there, too, but I don't waste my time on them much except when I need some comic relief. IF you had bothered to read, you would have found out that profiles are a great place for putting such pieces of information as ICQ numbers, or you could have opened the door to private messages.

I won't jump to conclusions, but I will exercise my right to dismiss pretenders.

A sig that fit within the rules would be a good first step back in the right direction.

I'm confused. Does 'tennis' means something? |noclue| other than that sport which I enjoy playing badly.....

Pagan 2008-11-26 09:11 PM

We have a few here who do play tennis, yes.

Do I really need to point out how this insults this board as a community? Why don't you just come out & say that you think our community can't help other webmasters? That we suck at our jobs. That 10 years after I started to post on board & offer free advice & help, that I SUCK AT MY JOB!

You want to help those that you think we have not helped? Go search for all the posts that have ZERO replies. Then, after you find one that's not spam & that you feel you can reply to with some legit advice, make a post. I'm big enough to admit that there are a few posts like that over the past 5+ years the board has been open - posts that could not be answered by the people that read them. PLEASE! Help those people that we have failed!!!!!!

Then you can come back & tell all of us how we have failed as a webmaster community.

Also, I restored a post in a stuck thread that one of the mods deleted last night as spam:

Just to show everyone what a helpful & kind person PG really is |thumb

Hi Greenie,

I, for one, have found this board to be of great help. Like most things in life, you get from it what you put in. If PG had attempted to become part of this community by chit chatting and joining some of the threads, he might have found a group of people more than willing to lend a hand.

This is, by far, the best adult webmaster board populated by the most helpful people. Thank you again for a great board.

I saw that post yesterday before it was removed, but out of respect for Liz and AEBN I chose not to increase the hijack with a reply.

However, since Greenie brought it up here I'll go ahead and post my reply in this thread.

We have a Boot/heels site that you might be interested in its from [spam]

The site name is [spam]

If you dont already promote that, I would appreciate it if you joined. Let me know if you do, and what I can help you with to get it selling.

If you are already selling, let me know if I can help you with anything anyway...

1) If you knew it was spam, why did you even post?

2) I spend a great deal of time looking for quality niche content that is fresh. It's my job. So I seriously doubt there's a boot specific paysite out there that I'm not aware of, unless it's a brand new site such as Ultimate Boot Fetish. But then again, I was made aware of that site being in the works way back in January.

3) The site you mentioned has mostly heavy thick soled goth/punk boots and shoes. Not at all what I'm looking for.

4) If you'd been following along with the hot topics of discussion over the last 6 to 9 months, on this board and about 5 others, you'd know my feelings regarding both cross sales and Dee's Evil Empire.

Bottom line, you have nothing to offer that I'm even remotely interested in promoting.

Recruiting new affiliates through boards is a dying art form...

Especially when the post/thread implies that 1 person is more knowledgeable than a community of webmasters. |crazy|

I like this forum more then the others. Some are so spam polluted, it's a waste of time. Three cheers for greenguy!

I haven't been here very long but I've been here long enough to recognize that it's going to be a long time before I need to go anywhere else for useful information.
