YA gallery review request
HIYA
new to the boards here and enjoying the feedback and posts I see. I got started about three months ago doing galleries through the Adult Webmaster School and am getting to a point I am starting to see some regular sales and decent traffic as well. So now it is time to open up and try to get some opinions outside of the group at AWS on my galleries if any of you would be so kind... http://www.pregnantfucksluts.com/gal...402/19/fpp.htm http://www.pregnantfucksluts.com/gal...1802/index.htm thanks for any and all input from those in the know around here. e |
Those are nice galleries, no doubt. Lots of text using graphics and easy to find links to the paysite.

Nice galleries. :)

Thanks for the compliments - is there a way the could be better? Both from a surfer and a TGP reviewer's perspective? I can take constructive criticism
thanks e |
You sacrifice the selling power of text in several places.
There are a certain number of TGPs that don't like the long format, advertising-between-rows type of gallery. The variation in layout style in the second gallery might get it canned some places. Counters are an unnecessary drain. Reviewers see a borderline gallery, see a counter, might thumbs down. |
I agree with Bill on the counter. I never use them.
Also he's right. Many TGPs do not like that much text between the thumbs and definitely might not like links to the sponsors between the thumbs when the text is that large. If using that much, make it so there is no link to the sponsor. |
Outthere,
Good work, I agree about the counter. Bill explained it well. The only thing I can add is to recomend you add meta and alt tags. Down the road though they will increase your chances of indexed at the search engines and increase you ranking. |
Thanks for the constructive comments.
As to the counter, I really hate them to, but as my current hosting dosen't provide me with acces to the log files or stats, it has been necessary to get a rough estimate of traffic and badnwidth useage before making the jump to a dedicated server. Bill you mentioned this: Quote:
That said, is anyone familiar with guides, workshops etc. that focus on writing copy for the adult industry? thanks again all e |
Arguably the information gained from counters when you are starting out is just barely worth the drain. Put at least ten more breaks betwen the bottom of the gallery and the counter- you don't need the extra accuracy. And you should reduce your graphic load when using a counter. And arguably sacrifice a sell point, so you end up with a max of one or two sell points and the counter pushed way down below.
Copy is the great mystery, the critical success factor. Your gallerys are suffering from hosted-gallery-itis. It's a classic error. Just become there's an excess of "designers" that think that graphics sell doesn't mean that graphics DO sell. You are loading your pages with graphics at the top. A surfer takes about 5 seconds to decide wether he's interested in the gallery, and in about 5 more seconds decides wether he gives a shit about your sell. What does your surfer see in the first few seconds that gives him information about wether or not he should give a shit about your gallery? A magazine ad loads instantly, an online ad doesn't. Copy is a real interesting topic. |
thanks for your thoughts Bill it has given me several things to consider and try to re-work.
I'll probably go ahead and drop the counter with future submissions. I have a pretty good idea of my traffic at this point and since I have made plans to move to a new host in less than 2 weeks where I can access true stats I can live without it for that time. And yes copy is a great mystery - one I would like to at least understand better though I doubt any of us will ever solve it completely. I promised myself a day off today since I have now gone three weeks without one and am already violating that a little by catching up on boards emails etc. So I guess I have one of my tasks cut out for me tomorrow - though I have no expectations of solving it in a day. e |
