Making a blog stick out with strange language.

I have an idea for one of my upcumming blogs. I will write it as a foreign guy write the posts. With humor bot not 100% accurate english.

What do you think of this. Will it do more damage then good? My idea is to get a humor twist and make the surfer remember the blog.

Borat goes Blogging?

Could work :)

Yeah something like that. I always try to make my sites stand out in some way, have a character. I like the idea in my head but havent tried it before in this way. :)

If you can write it "right", I think it'd be damn funny and could get people coming back just to read it.

Show us a sample ;)

Hell, if you write it in the same manner as your post, you'll be pretty much on track.

My personal assumption is that the average reader will hit the back button before reading half a paragraph.

Give it a good title, maybe a toon image of the author, and it could be a great idea! Shit, my sheep site had far too many return visitors for me to have any faith in Joe Surfer's appreciation of anything morally or grammatically correct.

Those sheep people are devoted. Show em a cute sheep and you gottem for life.

Yeah I got a toon allready in my mind. So there will be a toon in this blog that will be the character.

The big trick to doing this is determining exactly what the accent should sound like to the reader and then determining how to type the words which will make those sounds in the reader's mind. And making sure not to step out of the character by getting the accent sounding wrong in their heads. Get those things wrong and, like UW said, the readers will go bye-bye pretty fast. Get it right and you might even go viral.

Just for fun, here's an example of a pretty good job with a particular accent, and of staying in character...

Teddy KGB site has always made me laugh..but it only works because "we've" seen Rounders. If not...might not stick as much.

From his post entitled, Monies, monies, monies:
Quote:

Sasha come by club today and drop of det child she says is my son. She says she has modeling job and can not have Boris vit her. Det lying whore does not have modeling job unless someone iz looking for lying whore vit man features.
Me likey.

Now that I see something like that in action, I understand how it could get an audience. That one is pretty damn good.

I like your idea. One thing though - Are you going to have the energy to blog in that style every single day without eventually driving yourself nuts?|crazy|

You might want to open up notepad and write 10 short paragraphs (pretend each one is a separate blog entry) in that style before you upload word press and all that other BS first.

CumSensei 2009-01-05 09:41 AM

Yeah I sure can write that style each day without going nuts. That kgb is a perfect example on what I plan to do. But ofcourse I will have another character and style. I wont be russian.

I have not decided yet how far I will take this. But I think I will stay with a small amount of expressions maby.

walrus 2009-01-05 12:37 PM

My initial reaction was much like UW's original one but having taken a look at TeddyKGB, I have to say that it could work well.

But, also notice Teddy was only able to keep that up for a very short while. At least for me, it would be a lot of extra work as I would have to write the post normal and then transcribe it into persona of the blog and anymore I have enough trouble just posting as me on my blogs.

I know what you mean. Teddy's blog makes you want to try it, but at the same time, I'd have to be really inspired to get beyond the first couple of posts. The romance of blogging goes away so quickly.

Daniel_webcams 2009-01-08 04:45 PM

this will help you if someone is typing wrong words in google.... it will bring some traffic...

CumSensei 2009-01-08 05:56 PM

Yepp I have started now. Just made the first post, but will keep you posted what happens in a month or so when stuff might kick in.

Simon 2009-01-09 05:57 AM

Did anyone else wonder if "moneybrown" was a fake nick CumSensei was using to test out his new blog persona?

:D

Here is my try to make this happen. Lets see where this goes.

hony 2009-01-13 11:00 PM

I've hired writers to do this and I find that the basic (cheap) ones cannot maintain a distinctive "voice". So either I end up paying for a much better writer who can do this, or I hire multiple writers who each have their own natural voice.

Generally I go with the second option !
