Warning Page

Can anyone tell me if a warning page is required by law? I see a lot of sites that do not use them. Thank you

Check with your lawyer about local laws. I feel it is better to be safe than sorry.

Yes it's against the law and the police will be at your house within minutes! It's totally illegal to give surfers porn without stalling them first! |jester|

Seriously, theres no law that I'm aware of but like Art said,it's better to be safe than sorry. If you live in Louisiana for example, your going to jail if you hug your wife so check with your local laws. :)

Try this...

Replace the word "surfer" above with the word "children" and replace the exclamation point with a comma and add the words "Your Honor" after that comma. Now see if that 'lol' is still how you feel about it.

:)

I can agree with Simon, completely. I can also add that there are some parents who do monitor what their offspring do and appreciate a warning page that is free of hardcore. I have had irate parents contact me over the years, complaining that I was contributing to the delinquency of their brats. I have always been able to shut them up by pointing to the warning page, showing the irate parent the warning that their kid bypassed, and asking them why they permitted unsupervised surfing.

Just remember - 49 Attorneys General out of 50 say the parents are responsible for what their kids get into. Give them a chance to back away from your site gracefully. Your surfer can wait for one mouse click.

You should definately have a warning page. If anything, just to cover your ass. Besides, what would it hurt by having one?

some people won't link to you if you don't have a warning page...I don't think there's a law saying you have to have one, but I would submit to you that most webmasters on this board would encourage one...it's not going to do you any good to throw titties in someone's face that doesn't want them...so if they truly want them, then they won't be opposed to clicking through...that's just my take
