No offline work today so it's another day of catching up on reviews and submitting new stuff.
Other than that I've got nothing.

It is a cold one here today too. Thankfully I am inside. Coffee is on :)

Looks like one of those "don't put your tongue on metal poles" type of days. Brrrrr...

Yesterday's appointment at the college was both good and horribly overwhelming. The coordinator and I established a wonderful rapport and it would seem that she really wants me in the program, however, I'm missing a ton of general education and core courses which they consider requirements. I'm coming in with more credit hours than required, but many of them aren't the courses they would have preferred. So if I go forward instead of wallowing in self-pity, I will have to SOMEHOW take 13 other courses while studying full time and student teaching in the B.S. program. So I have to accept the fact that 3 full semesters of past work was a waste of my time and your taxpayer dollars. (GI Bill, Pell Grants, etc.) She told me to write two emails: one begging the dean to allow a worthless, ignorant fuck like me into the program and convince him that I'll magically be able to go full time to a local community college to meet the prerequisites that I currently lack while going full time to work on their B.S., and a second email explaining that a previous institution granted me 16 credit hours of foreign language study and how that is MORE THAN the 6 credit hours which they require. |crazy|

So, I can either attempt to do both at the same time (note the lack of confidence) or delay the B.S. program a full year so that I can take more, mostly pointless, first and second year courses while attempting to forget that I'm a 38 year-old man who has wasted too many years of his life already and really just wants to get on with it.

Self-pity, here I come. |thumb

Thank you for reading my blog. If anyone has any other excellent career options for me, go ahead and shoot them my way, and don't be afraid to rub in what a monstrous failure I am.

UW, just go to school. This could be a blessing fo ya, take the classes you need and just move forward with it. While taking these classes you may realize you do not want to be a teacher because of all the pain in the ass students sitting next to you :D

Watched 'Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson' yesterday it was interesting because it covered more of his political journalism than I had seen in other documentaries.

I have no idea what's on tap for today. I have a meeting tomorrow I guess I should review for, other than that I'll play the day by ear.

Oh and it's pouring at the normally sunny Central Coast of California.

don't give up. one idea might be to do the CLEP test thing, get a lot of basics out of the way. thats what I did when I went back to school

Brrrrrrrrrrr very cold last night but the air conditioner guy made here about 6pm last night so we had heat finally!

My husband who runs the food service department at a nursing home is having a mens night out. He is taking the old men to the Wing House and they are very excited. |boobies| It's something he wants to do monthly so we have to come up with some fun places for them to go eat.

My Sabres beat up on Sheepguy's Maple Laughs last night 5-0. I love seeing dejected Toronto fans leaving the arena with a 90 minute drive ahead of them :D

Work today includes some stats & maybe some reviewing.

1st: UW.. just think of all the nubile 20somethings that will be in the CC classes with you... it will speed you thought it and you have all that life experience behind you.. do both..you can do it.. just evoke tunnel vision for a year while you complete your core courses. and do what Spooky suggested to see if you can CLEP some classes. I did my MBA when I was 34-38 with 20something cockyassed 80's slackers.. and the next one when I was 43-45 with even more cockyassed late 20somethings from families with $$$. (Emory is not cheap) And camhoe'd through most of it while studying. So I know you can do it..and if nothing else.. think about when you are done..you can move to some place that is not 0 degrees. BTW .. Vegas does not have a Golden Corral...

Nothing much today.. just some ebay and a bit of catch up work. I think this afternoon will be a movie day. My oldest son's anniversary is next week on Friday the 13..I think I'll buy them Zack and Miri for their 6th year present.

Good morning. I'll be driving to Chatsworth today to have a meetings with a new company. I don't know why I'm going really. I feel like these two other guys that are going could handle this. So most of my day will be spent in a car going to an armpit of a place.

Watched Lost last night. It was awesome. First show I watched with the new HD cable box. Friggin amazing. |thumb

Hello all :)

UW I would do the classes to get the grades you need first and then do the main course.
I say that because I did that at you're age and I was surprised to see how many other people of our age group were doing the same.
Additionally, now more than ever, you will find people going back to re-train so you won't be alone in a room full of kids.
The other side of that equation is that the few people in my first year who did decide to do both courses at once, found it almost impossible to keep up and they generally lost grades because everything they completed was either rushed or half hearted due to the workload.
It may put you back a year in what you really want to do but it's time well spent if you have to do it. Good luck either way |thumb

Good Thursday after the hump. SOme things in life really never cease to amaze me. Just when you think certain past experiences have put themselves to bed, they wake up with a 4 day binder headache and bleeding eyes. <~~~ Metaphorically speaking

Woke up to -1' here this AM, high if 19' which is happening now. But the weekend supposed to be mid 40's break out the slip and slide.

UW...I am in the same situation as you. I have so many credits that don't transfer that I'd be back doing some basics as well. Is there a way to ask them f there is any type of equivalency type program? More or less like a certificate to degree thing. Either way, I wish you all the best in what's to come.
