Is there any good counters out there for blogs?

Do you know of any good working counters for blogs?
I am trying to find some good ones who can track the complete site in some way and display refers and stuff like that.

Have you tried Google Analytics?

CumSensei 2009-02-12 07:34 AM

No I have not. Will do that at ones. :)

FuckingBastard 2009-02-12 09:15 AM

I'm using google analytics on all my blogs. Gives me everything I need except sales :)

I have put this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/statpress/ on some of my smaller feeder blogs, just to test it. It's really simple, and does what I need it to do, which is counting hits, SE-hits and referrers.

I also used Wordpress stats: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stats/ - a good thing about this one, is that it registers which links your visitors click on :)

I use extremetracker for free hosted sites. But most of my sites are on my own hosting and so I process the log files directly.

Google analytics is good but I wouldn't want G to know that all my sites belong to the same person! So I only use it on my mainstream sites that all have the same adsense code anyway.

Well it depends if you are trying to make it looks as though they are separate for linking purposes.

Say you are doing "ABC" linking with someone else -- you own A and C and they own B and the links go A->B->C.

The idea is that Google sees that as two individual one-way independent, natural, good quality, wholesome, nutritious, high vitamin, low calorie, gold plated links.

But if G knows that A and C are owned by the same person then of course it is more like a greasy spoon burger than a 5 star caviar if you see what I mean.

Just my opinion of course -- and who knows what G really thinks!

I don't know if you get penalized or not, but this is why I haven't put google analytics on any of my blogs... cuz I'm worried it will.

aha.. I see.
Well that makes sense...
*wonders if it's too late to take Analytics off and they will forget*
