Recips & Mirroring
 

Hi all,
I would like someone to explain how recips work on a free site and do you make money from them. Can the recips come from varied sources? Also when you say mirror your site, what does that mean and how is it done?

Any more experienced LL owners jump in and correct anything i mess up...


Recips- Recips are links back to the link lists or tgps that you submit to...99% of the time, the LL will provide you with how they want the link to work. For a tgp submission, you'll have like 3 recips per page (i'll explain what i mean by this when i talk about mirroring) ...For a free site submission, you'll have like 6-9 recips...

Now, what is the point of recips?

2 reasons that i know of:

1) If the LL has a link to their site along with other LL's that have a good page rank on google...their page rank will be boosted

2) To get traffic to their link list off the page itself. You see, you submit a page to lets say 9 different LL's ...the different LL's will accept your page at different times...so the LL owner may get traffic then from your submission to a different LL... (if that makes any sense whatsoever :) )


Now, mirroring...what is it , why people do it?

Mirrroring is where you make identical sites with different sets of recips....so you would make one free site that had recips for 9 LL's...then another site that looked the same...for 9 other LL's...

some LL owners look down at this practice...others dont care...
Some will let you just do index1.html index2.html etc...
Some will require that each mirror has its own directory
Some dont allow it period

So basically, the point of it is so you can submit to more than one LL with the same free site...

The only problem I have is that the recips were not meant to increase SE ranking when I started 7 years ago - it was just your #2 (I like youm you link me)

The SE stuff just "came about" and while most of us did alter are recips after we realized that the SE's were looking at them, it is really secondary :)
