How do I capture exit traffic?

So like a total noob I have learned the hard way about leak free tours.

I have always generated mobile traffic for my mobile sites with PPC, which is generally much higher quality in the mobile world than in the Web traffic world. And I have always populated my purchase pages with banners for other sites that I sell. I've also included a text link for a free softcore site, on the theory that surfers who don't want to join my paysites will have a place to go where I can monetize them in other ways, banners, etc. I always figured why not make some money on the back-end from surfers who don't buy. This has all seemed to work OK for me.

Well, in the last few months I have begun a beta affiliate program and signed up a few initial mobile traffic affiliates. $25 PPS or 50/50 rev share. And guess what, one of the first guys to start sending me significant signups freaked the fuck out about the banners and links on my purchase pages. I have now had a thorough lesson in "leak-free" tours. And as I'm sure all of you here know, I've been an idiot all this time. Turns out my shit converts WAAY better without the other links.

So this is all good. Lessons learned, better product. Buuut... now I wonder what happens to all those surfers who don't buy? Do they disappear into thin air? Do they all hit their back buttons and go back where they came from? It seems like such a waste not to capture some value from them. Soooo... how does this work? What do others do, if anything, about this? Hoe do you capture exit traffic if you run leak free tours?

set up a couple different tours one leak free for affiliates and another for your own traffic, adword traffic dont let you have consoles

offer more of a payout and have a console tour that sends that traffic to a looking for something else page

Actually, I don't want to go back to my old setup even with my own traffic. I'm making more on the better conversions than I did with the traffic on the backside.

Consoles would be good, but these are mobile sites. Can't do popups or consoles on mobile devices - at least not yet.

There really aren't too many. Most of the tradditional US Web adult program guys in mobile are selling via desktop Web and not on mobile landing pages.

Many of the guys selling directly to mobile traffic are doing one-off sales or pay-per-download stuff - this is because user authentication on mobile devices is such a pain in the ass.

The remaining guys doing subscription signups with mobile traffic don't seem to capture exit traffic in any way that I can see. But there really are very few.

I have a unique auto-authenication system that recognizes returning devices and allows me to run subscription paysites on mobile without the headache of user names and passwords for users. I don't know of anyone else who has a similar product. (This is why I convert - and retain - better than anyone.)

Really my only model to emulate for paysite programs is the traditional Web model - even if some of the elements, like consoles, won't work.

We refuse to put any banners at all on our mobile sites and with the traffic, they convert roughly 1 in 100.

Any pc traffic gets automatically diverted elsewhere, and its only the mobile devices that can get through to see any videos.

None of the exit traffic is captured.

Yea, I'm getting the idea that getting useful exit traffic on mobile is just not possible.

What mobile sites do you run?

I doubt there are that many people who know how to monetize mobile traffic, let alone try to monetize on the exit traffic. That's one of the reasons we don't put links to other sites, as the majority claim they can convert, but when it comes down to the wire its just smoke and mirrors.

We have hundreds of satellite sites up and growing daily, which feed into one central hub. This site is currently being soft launched whilst upgrades and further testing are being performed, at which point we will start to consider affiliates.

When it is ready to launch you will know.

Of course

You are entitled to your opinion, but I am certainly not going to post the url on an open board quite yet. Good luck with your up and cumming mobile site.
