About autosubmitting

When I first started submitting, auto submitting would usually get you blacklisted. Is it becoming more accepted? I know Greenie and others allow trusted submitters to auto submit, perhaps that has made it less taboo? I just don't see it coming up as much as an issue, and it seems to be mentioned less in rules.

I don't really want to do it, I was just wondering what list owner's attitude these days are...(?)

And one other question, how can you tell if someone is auto submitting? I get some submits that I think are, but I am not completely sure.

One simple way is to add a hidden input field to your submit form, and make it a common one just not one you use.

If that field gets filled in on the submit then the submit was auto submitted.

Not necessarily! If someone uses a tool like advanced submitter or chameleon submitter, only to fill out fields, without using the autosubmitting option, (I think lots of submitters do) that hidden field could get filled, but it doesn't mean that he's autosubmitting.

Also, I'll bet Roboform would put something in that field.

Do you see your LL with a handful of LL you've never ever heard of? Likely that yours was dumped in there using an autosubmit.

Yes, I do get those. If the site is good, I list it though...is that what others are doing?

If I see my recip with other LL's that I've never heard of I click several of them to make sure they really are LL's. Doesn't mean much other than that they are real LL's. If it's worth your time you can wait a day or two and check the other LL's and see if that same site is getting listed. Most smaller LL's will get sites listed in a day or two.

If you're in a bad group that a submitter keeps putting you in.

You might want change your rules a bit.

Some small LL owners require to be in the group with the biggies. Sure I'll throw a bone out there to the small ones but if my traffic is low. It's hard to justify going round and round. Especially when the small LL owner is picky and all that. There has to be a give and take in there somewhere at least for me. Just my .02
