Could a political party manipulate Google for their benefit?

There's quite a battle taking place since traditional propaganda networks are becoming less effective than the Internet and other communication technology.

As webmasters, we do what we can to get our sites to come up in SE. Imagine what a well financed political party might be able to do...?

I should probably be less paranoid...

Adult WMs could link to pages like this as obscene.

I used to fart around on wikipedia's political party sites. Change one word and it would change the whole tone of the article, and it would take the party weeks to notice |spook
Amazing what a difference changing "several" to "several hundred" can do ;)

I'm sure that they do.

I don't agree with this statement at all. I believe that the 2 largest propaganda networks in the history of the world based on money investment and the number of followers happen to be Fox News and Clear Channel Radio.

UPI has quite a long reach as well since it's picked up by so many news papers.
