A Question about Blogging Netiquette

Someone has written me to tell me that he has linked to a blog of mine, which is a PR3.
I checked out his blog, and it doesn't look like a spam blog or anything.
So I checked the PR rank and it's NA which worries me. It looks like it's been around long enough and has enough posts to have been indexed, and I worry that it's been sandboxed for some reason.
Normally with a blog like this that has no PR, I would offer to link him up from one of my PR0 or PR1 blogs, but I am afraid to do so with this one.
He's linked to several higher PR blogs with no recips (that I see, they may have ABC recips) and I feel kind of sorry for him, looks like he is trying, but this is a biz after all and I work very hard to appease the google gods. |bow|
I don't want to hurt his feelings :=(
Any advice?
eta: I guess one thing I am asking if anyone knows that linking to a (possibly) sandboxed blog will hurt me? And if so, perhaps I should just say thanks and let it go?

say what?

Is he just linking to you? Or are you two doing a link trade?

Maybe it's just me, but your post needs to be revised. The current state of the link structure that is occurring between blogs as well as what really is the question your looking to have answered is unclear.

Maybe someone has a decoder ring and can clue me in? |huh

Sorry about that. I thought I made myself clear.
He wrote me to tell me that he is putting my (PR3) blog link on his (PR - NA) blog. I did not ask him to do so.
In situations like this where the other guy has no PR etc, I will offer to put his link on a lower PR blog of mine, one that is a 0 or 1. (That is if I don't know him. If I know the guy, I don't care, I'll put it on a PR3 if I like him.)
What I am worried about is the NA, not the low PR. I am worried that this blog has been sandboxed for some reason by Google. His blog has been around for some months and has several posts, and it looks like to me it should have been indexed already. And if I put his blog link on any of my blogs, it will hurt me?
So that is my question - will putting his link on any blog of mine hurt that blog, if his blog has been sandboxed?
Hope this makes more sense.

Id say thanks |bananna| a free backlink :)

Don't worry about the PR - its another route for SE's or people to find your site

Well it's not the PR so much as the blog possibly being sandboxed that worries me - I wonder if I were to link from my blog to a sandboxed blog do I get penalized - kind of like google cooties...
Hope I was clear enough about that in my second post.
But Dunc, you are saying just say thanks and don't bother to link back from any of my blogs at all?
Hope I am making sense, I am really really sick today and running a high fever - hopefully will not have to go to the ER - why does this always happen on weekends..

OK, if I have things straight:
dude puts a link to your blog from his blog
then emails you asking for a link back
no previous discussion of a link exchange.

If that is how it is, then I say he is the one who violated netiquette ... according to old school thought at least. If someone does that to me, I would do as Dunc suggested, and me being me, add in that he is a novice at guilt trips to boot. Proper etiquette as I learned it was if you expected a link back you negotiated that beforehand. Otherwise it was simply a case of blog A linking to something relevant that blogger A liked (sometimes called an "organic" link).

He didn't email me and ask for a link back. He only said that he put my link on his blog.
I am probably feeling guilty more from 12 years of having nuns beat it into me than anything, in other words, a knee jerk reaction lol..
Ok I feel better now - in other words he should not expect anything from this, it is just basically a gift. And very likely he does not, I just felt guilty about him doing it and not reciprocating.
Thank you all. I am going to lie down now.
Have a good weekend |bananna|

I understand.

I'd just take the link and not link back. Was nothing you discussed prior to the putting up of the link.

As you said in a previous post on this thread, this is a business. If you wish to operate as a charity that is your choice.
