Amen to that. The man was a comedy genius.

I have never understood why he was never appreciated as much in his home country as outside of it. In America his last ever TV broadcast was never screened, in England he was about to start work on his own TV series when he died. And in Britain he still ends up in the top 5 greatest comedians of all time, and most of the people who voted would have been too young to see him when he was alive!

On the tenth anniversary of his death the British Parliament actually passed a motion remembering him (i.e. the 'serious' work of the government halted for a few minutes to remember Bill Hicks).

But in America, his home country, I have never heard of any memorial of any kind being made to him. And when I mention him to Americans in chat rooms/message boards I often get asked "Bill Hicks, who is he?"

Sad.
