Capital Bucks (and by association Metro Money) Stole My Traffic & My Rewards!

Back when I was doing my last PPS Stats run I noticed that I had some reward points at Capital Bucks. I had 70 points - enough for 2 $50 - iTunes Music Gift Card - so I ordered them (I don't know the exact date, but it was well before Xmas because I remember thinking I could use them as emergency gifts)

2 weeks ago it dawned on me that I had not yet recv'd them :( I log in to my account & go to the rewards section & see this:
Reward Tracking - View Unshipped Rewards (2) - View Shipped Rewards (0)
To me, this means they have no yet been shipped. So I contact them via their support page:

I'm still waiting on the 2 iTunes gift cards I ordered a couple months back

This is what they sent back to me:

Sorry but the reward program was discontinued over a year ago.
My angry & hasty reply:

It's still in the admin!

Probably so.. Understand that we didn't go throgh our entire webmaster
database and delete rewards. We did we notify all affilaites that
rewards were discontinued.
So they removed the rewards program by emailing their webmasters, but not by removing it from the admin. Log into your Capital Bucks account right now & you'll see it's still there!

I personally do not remember seeing the email about the rewards program closing & their "news" page has 2 entries on it - one of which is PRICELESS:

In the process of moving servers we have run into some unexpected problems. Please pull your links until the issues have been resolved.

*** Payments will go out as usual, you will be notified when payments have been sent.
So I decided to pull my links. But 1st, I decided to click on them - please do so for yourself & see what I see :)

EVERY link goes to a parked page with ads for other programs.

I'm sure there was an email sent out about this shit, too |banghead|

Now, how does this Metro Money (MetroMoney) program & Metro Babes (MetroBabes) fit into this? I'm not 100% sure, but I did receive a spam from Capital Bucks about them:

It just AMAZES me that programs close up like this and delete all links redirecting them elsewhere.

Thanks for the heads up. Anybody that would screw over one of the founders of the internet porn industry (Greenie) would bend a pseudo-newbie like me over and make me squeal.

LeRoy 2009-04-27 02:18 PM

That sucks Greenie. I hope they make it right and send you the gift cards.

Thanks for the heads up too.

Pretty Dirty shit. Most of these sites don't update regularly anyway. Why don't they just leave the content up and still make the sign ups rather people push them or not. That's just ripping people off and giving yourself a bad name.

nate 2009-04-27 05:05 PM

First a clarification, by industry I was referring to the free-site/tgp link list business. While it does not comprise the adult industry as a whole, it certainly drove the adult industryto the position where it resides today as LordGodKing of the internet. Without linklists, pay sites would have withered from lack of traffic, and most would either be gone or never have existed.

I started doing this shit part time in college in the late 90s and even by them, GG was a staple (and sent me lots of traffic back then to). Him, Hun, Anarchy, Tommy, Thumzilla, Gremlin, Richard, Goat, PK, al4a (and his other site) were the tops in the linklisting business at that time that I know of.

I wish I could still post to all of them but I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars a year to those that charge to look at my sites and decide whether they are acceptable. I don't begrudge the sheer capitalist nature of that business model and I can understand that it probably keeps the shit-submitters and cheaters from overloading them, but it did sort of disappoint me when I came back to the business after a hiatus of automobile repair to find that I was unable to continue using some of the lists I held in high regard back then.

If its claimed that I'm an asskisser for what I say, thats OK. I can endure any and all verbal abuse hurled at me for stating my opinions. I get a lot of it and not just on bulletin boards.

Greenguy 2009-04-27 07:10 PM

Asskisser :D

Capital Cocksuckers.

Few weeks ago I've noticed that their celeb site is parked... of course no e-mail to affiliates. Now, I simply can't wait to push Metro Babes.

Assholes.

I dont use nor have I ever used Capital Bucks, but that is just plain bullshit. No other word for it. Imagine all those affiliates that dont always check their links and where they lead.

newbiz 2009-04-28 06:38 PM

Greenie

Thanks for the comments in your post, I had more respect for you and your board…Maybe next time you will spend more time reading emails before throwing temper tantrums about some rewards points, if you did, this issue could have been resolved long ago. What’s really tragic is that you have absolutely no clue how long I have financially supported you to the tune of several thousands of dollars during my tenure at different affiliate companies I have run throughout the last decade… please ask Jim he may be able to remind you. Unfortunately, your post has cost you sponsorship money…I have no choice but to delete GG&J from my upcoming advertising budgets, great timing for you huh?

Have fun with your reply, don’t expect an answer.

LeRoy 2009-04-28 06:53 PM

Oh wow. This just got really interesting.

It's about time for some |popcorn|

Greenguy 2009-04-28 10:06 PM

newbiz - so you're looking to buy ads for a program that has 6 sites redirecting to parked domain pages due to a "some unexpected problems" while moving servers? Funny, I've never heard of forgetting to renew the domains & loosing them to squatters caused by a server move.

Smooth move moving all your attention to the new program instead of fixing the problems with the old one. Too bad there are assholes like me that post on message boards when they see shit like this.

Yeah, I'm the asshole because I took it to the boards. You're perfect because you have a program with no sites & rewards that don't exist |thumb

Just because you were an advertiser on here doesn't mean that I'd keep quiet while you fucked over 1000's of affiliates. Keep the $150 - I'd rather let my members know what a scam business you're running.

Just remember that you could have probably avoided this entire mess if you were a legit businessman & sent out the rewards that ARE STILL TO THIS DAY OFFERED IN YOUR ADMIN.

Sorry I'm such a douchebag.

Greenguy 2009-04-28 10:07 PM

PS - you can still buy ads on the board if you wish, but I can not guarantee that the link codes I put up will work....you know how it is.

Now i have never promoted Capitalbucks but How can you have a advertising budget since as i see it all the links for that program ( or alot ) are all redirected/parked? see below quote?

Im baffled by this, is there a new way to promote/make money off of Domains for a program that are parked ? if so please fill us ALL in. It amazes me just how some programs when caught doing this kinda crap try to put the blame on the one who caught them . Shame on Capitalbucks Shame on anyone one cheating hard workin webmasters so many seem to forget if it were not for us affiliates most would not have a program in the first place.

Pagan 2009-04-29 11:04 PM

Very active sponsor, I can tell. One post per year - almost. Is that a kind of wanna-be thing, just like being a wanna-be sponsor? The real businessmen in this industry took care of their affiliates FIRST and foremost because they knew full well that tricks like this could well put them out of business fast. It isn't just adult, either. Most of us build both mainstream and adult.

Sorry, but I just deleted the time I would spend promoting such a sorry sponsor. You do realize that this thread has hit most of the freesite builders by now, right? Or at least 3/4 of the link list owners? There will be a few that won't mind GF'ing themselves and may want to take a chance on you. Please don't let the door hit you on your way out.

NY Jester 2009-04-30 12:53 AM

Twice Shy - yes if 1000's of affiliates send targeted traffic to a tour that gets redirected to a parked domain the affiliate makes $0 and the program makes whatever $.01's for each click off that page. Kinda crazy if ya ask me. |bullshit|
