Hi to all.I am a new member and we own a tube site (free) The traffic is getting better and recent things we have done concerning SEO have helped ie gone from
1,000,000 plus to six hundred M +/- in our google ranking . But no conversions , clicks yes but no sales. I would love any and all suggestions ,criticisms . The site is

Thanks for all any suggestions you may have.

As a surfer, your site is a fucking nirvana. If anyone deserves search engine hits, its you. 30 minute, 450x376 (183MB) videos coming straight off your server (according to Orbit and Grab++). Thats pretty goddamn gracious of you. Your putting yourfilehost to shame.

Why should I pay money to somebody when you give me that great stuff for free? The click thrus are probably from people clicking the videos trying to pause them so they arent clicking through to get more, they are clicking through because you are tricking them.

Also, how much bandwidth are you going through? It must be hellacious expensive.

Unrelated, I looked at that tube script I think. It requires zend optimzer. I would have bought a copy (and used much smaller vids) if it didnt rely on zendguard to ensure I had no way of changing the site to best suit my needs. Yeah, zendguard protects the developer and his intellectual property, but in my case it protected him from getting my money.

This isnt really related to your question either, but your embedded player is resizing the vids up and thats pushing my poor computer past its processing limits and making the audio and video real choppy.

Also, when I pause the video, it keeps downloading. In your case, thats a big deal. Theres one guy here that is a lighttpd expert that might be able to offer advice about that and streaming. If he reads the thread, he'll know who he is.

Nice site though, and thanks for all the free porn.

I agree, you're site isn't optimized for sending people to a destination, it IS a destination.

I'll jump to the assumption it's me since seem to be the only one around here to use lighttpd :P

It's normal actually, combination of the player as well as the flv stream module for lighty, there's no way to tell lighty to stop sending data. Some players will support it by basically remembering the offset that they are at stream wise, and will drop the connection when you hit pause. When resuming play, it will do a new request for the stream starting from the point in the video you are up to the end.

Strictly speaking it is better to just have it download even while paused -- you're going to burn that bandwidth one way or the other. On a legal tube (which this one doesn't seem to be) the "wastage factor" is quite small since the clips aren't long. If you're aiming to be the next YouPorn, then you will have to get used to spending multiple thousands of $ per month on bandwidth.

nate 2009-04-28 11:42 PM

OK, the player drops the connection, then lighty can let the player restart its connection at the same point thanks to its streaming abilty... is that it?

Also, will the apache mod_flv or whatever its called do the same thing if the player makes the same set of calls?

Also, whats a "legal" tube as opposed to one that isnt? Are you referring to whether or not the content is licensed?

Nirvana? I was thinking "porn charity". Yeesh, it's like a restaurant giving a free steak dinner with salad and two sides and the bread ... then hoping the person will buy dessert.

Correct -- the player can tell lighty (or Apache with mod_flv for that matter) to start serving the movie from a given byte offset, e.g. start from 100.000 bytes in to the end. It's basically a function of the player.

The mod_flv streaming stuff basically enables some optimisations and some tricks on the server end of things to make serving flv files easier (sets up content types, does the accept-ranges things and so on).

Well, legal, might not have been the best term but more often than not tube sites with full length clips and a shitload of them at that (especially user submitted stuff) are using unlicensed content -- besides I still think tube sites that post anything > 5 minutes in length are shooting themselves in the foot something horrid but that wasn't the subject of the topic so I'll let that rest :D

Not only content license, but if the owner or the host are inside the US there are 2257 documents to worry about as well.

NY Jester 2009-04-29 08:13 AM

Where are you getting the 25+ minute videos for the site?

HowlingWulf 2009-04-29 10:48 AM

Lots of em from PornHub. Thanks for spreading full porn movies and helping lower all our conversions.

NY Jester 2009-04-29 08:57 PM

Well, that was my point exactly.. I mean WTF. Isn't this one of the biggest things we as a community are trying to stop? You wont get much advice from us other than to go legit and use true sponsor supported clips.

terry 2009-04-29 11:30 PM

I agree. Giving away way too much there. As a surfer I would never feel the urge to click an ad or buy anything. I get to watch full clips and shoot my load for free.

ahhh, thanks, now Im relaxed.

I dont think they are necassarily bad. The nubiles version and their content (plus content from other dumps that encourage you to use it) seems like an awesome marketing tool See three minutes of low quality video, pay to see hundreds of 30 minute HD videos.

Thats said, I wont run the nubiles tube script (or any of the others I've looked at) because it uses zendguard and their are not many things I loathe more than zend guard and zend "optimizer". Optimizer my ass. Its my fucking website and I should have complete control over every last byte of it.

Nubiles guys, thanks for the offering, and this is not a jab at you (you are some pretty cool guys it seems with a great website and content), but really, dump that zendguard shit and go GPL. Give back a bare-bones open source version to the community all set up to promote nubiles without explaining how to use it to promote other sites. I'd jump on that like white on rice.

I've been playing with the nubile script, and have a couple of installs. For a free script, I must say it's pretty awesome, but I'm not all that familiar with the pros/cons of zend optimizer. It's cool that Pimproll and some other sponsors are providing dumps specifically for the Nubile script.

Teencash also has a dump you can use. you can look it up (google teencash, its the first result) or I'd be happy to supply you with a link including my affiliate code. They have some excellent video and pic content, and nice websites to boot.

Actually, Theres a link somewhere around the nubiles tube script forum that lists all the sponsors with dumps.

I wont touch it because it uses zendguard, but hopefully it will kick ass for you.
