Program Owners: Do u allow hotlinking?

I've recently come across a few sites where not only are the thumbs hot linked, but entire galleries from a ton of different programs are hotlinked to that sites html pages as well. I've even seen hotlinked images being used in rotating banners etc... So the question is:

Do you allow affiliates to hot link images from your hosted galleries?
If so, how much and under what circumstances?

Thanks

I know as a link list owner I WILL NOT accept free sites that have hot linked images or content (that INCLUDES banners or recips)

Some programs encourage some hotlinkiing. ARS has a banner rotator and all you do is include the code in your html. They serve the banner images. Any sponsor hosted FLV is hotlinked.

For images, I dont thinks as common, and besides its makes you look pretty sleazy. Bandwidth is cheap.

Yeah, the only files I hotlink are the hosted FLV being offered. And yet, I still download them to be able to serve them myself in the future.

Some sponsors also do hosted geo-ip language banners.

A lot of places allow it - these's a bunch in this thread:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=51317

I like it for programs I trust & have done business with in the past (odds are I'm not going to sign up to a program today & have a hosted banner flying tomorrow)

I'm really liking the Nasty Dollars & Bang Bros hosted ads that rotate with each episode update or allow you to post the last updates from multiple sites.

I've not heard of anyone that allows hotlinking pics or everything from a gallery page (unless you're confusing them with hosted galleries?)

Oh no, I was seeing,
for example an affiliate's page:

Code:

http://www.this-affiliate.com/this-gallery/index.html
where the image codes in a gallery are

all the way through.

I understand the examples where it would be necessary, as nate, AJ and tickler pointed out above: hosted flv's, gallery of the day, pic of the day, etc...
what caught my attention was the above galleries and the affiliate using:

Code:

http://this-sponsor.com/this-image.jpg
hotlinked as the header for his page at

Code:

http://www.this-affiliate.com
etc.

I hadn't noticed any affiliates doing things like this before I saw this affiliates site.

thanks

Yes,

fhg images, videos i don't care, i even have all my banners set up for hotlinking, as well as thumbs, flvs etc etc, the list goes on and on

i don't care when non affiliates hotlink, such as forums

i watermark everything so i look at it as free advertising

back in the early days when b/w was so expensive i had hl protection on my fhg videos, but not images

nate 2009-05-18 03:14 PM

Yeah, thumbnails too. A lot of sponsors will not only let you hotlink to thumbs for their FHGs, but will put the img src link where you want it in a FHG dump. Its a good tool for the affiliate to use to drive hits to the sponsor.

MyTinyDick 2009-05-18 09:20 PM

hell no, not gonna give my bandwidth away lol

papagmp 2009-05-19 01:04 AM

Depends -

I allow hotlinking of the thumbs for my hosted galleries but I don't want to be stuck leaving ever single image set exactly as it is forever so I prefer to block hotlinking of most of my affiliate content. If an affiliate has a particular need, they should ask and I'm sure wa can come to an arrangement that works for all of us.

We don't mind if affiliates want to hotlink our banners.

LeRoy 2009-05-19 01:48 PM

DTI Cash will let you hotlink vids, images, banners etc.

Some people take the full length vid and put it on a tube site. That would be a no no.

nice, thanks for all the input guys

geoGUERILLA 2010-04-05 02:42 PM

Yeah, thanks for spamming me via PM, douche bag.

This thread that you bumped is almost a year old.

geoGUERILLA 2010-04-05 02:58 PM

Just trying to drum up business. I should've just messaged you.
What's up with the douche bag comment?

What the fuck is your problem?

If you are trying to drum up business, use the spam board. Or if you want to post ads on the main boards, speak to GG, he will sell you an ad spot.

I am guessing UW called you a douche bag because you spammed him via PM, however you also deserve the title because you are:
(1) Spamming the board.
(2) Pulling up an old old thread for no good reason (other than spam).

If you need to ask that you need to take a few lessons in using web boards my friend.
