What's your best size for thumbs?

I FINALLY got Smart Thumbs to work...damn, what a fucking monster, but pretty cool once you get the hang of it.

So, is there an optimal size that seems to work bext for you? I plan to start dumping sponsor galleries in, and it looks like changing sizes after importing is not easily done.

The default is 110x150. Personally I like bigger ones because of my sucky vision, but what do surfers like?

You need to examine a cross section of sites in the same niche/genre as your site. You don't want your thumbs to be substantially larger or smaller than most of the sites you're likely to be trading with. In very general terms, on a trade between two TGP with substially different size thumbs, the site with the larger thumbs will see a higher productivity on incoming traffic, but return traffic to that trade partner will be poor.

My babe/pornstar TGP uses 135x180. I tend to avoid trades with sites that have thumbs larger than 150x200.

After looking up other sites, I opted for 150x200 and 200x150 for my picture and video galleries respectively as it is averagely the middle size between the smallest thumbs and the largest I've found. But as Toby, check out other sites from the same niche as your TGP to have a better idea. I only did a search on a global scan.

150 wide x 200ish tall so I can fit 5 across and still be under 800 without scrolling side-to-side so SmutGremlins will list my sites.

That's fine for galleries you're going to submit, but 800 wide is quite outdated for TGP's these days. It leaves way too much real estate unutilized.

What would you consider a good width Toby , I am busy setting up a fake TGP and am considering this very issue?

I build my sites for 1024 width, allowing for scrollbar and a little margin. 980 is a good target width, but you can push that a little if needed to get things to fit.

My stats show that less than 5% are using resolutions under 1024 wide.
