RIP John Hughes

59 years old. Man his movies were such a big part of my teenage years.

Anyone told Abe Frohman?

Yeah, this is a major bummer, he was one of the best.

"Sixteen Candles" is one of the all time great 80's movies.

Breakfast Club, really nailed every high school clique there was with its cast. Just brilliant..and funny.

Yeah, I loved his work in the 1980's, such as Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty in Pink, Weird Science and Sixteen Candles. I even liked the first Home Alone (although not in the same class as Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, etc). Unfortunately Home Alone was too big a success and in the 90s John Hughes stopped making intelligent teen movies and seemed to spend much of the rest of his career making really silly kid comedies (Home Alone series, Dennis series, Baby's Day Out series, etc) trying to re-create the Home Alone success. His work was never as good after that. However he may have been trying to get back to form and distance himself from the crap he made in the 1990s, because he started writing under a pseudonym (Edmond Dantes) in about 2000.
