BoardTracker - Please Remove Porno Junkies

I assume I'm not the only one getting multiple daily nonsense email alerts from BoardTracker due to the amazing amount of SPAM on Porno Junkies, which appears to have been abandoned by its owners.

If Board Tracker would kindly wake up and pull their spider off of that heap of shit, we'd all be very happy.

Itchy 2009-08-07 12:41 PM

Yup I agree I keep getting tons of crap from there in BT now :(

Boardtracker almost seems to running on autopilot as well.

NY Jester 2009-08-07 03:23 PM

Yeah I have my "alerts" set and almost none of what comes through has anything to do with them. and the PJ ones are just ridiculous.

Useless 2009-08-08 10:50 AM

Eleven more thread alerts in my inbox this morning, all link spam from Porno Junkies. I'd love to shut off my BoardTracker alerts, but I don't know my old login info and their "Forgot your password" script hasn't sent me anything. |banghead|

EDIT: I used the password reminder a few more times, logged in and deleted my search terms and unchecked "Alert by Email" |thumb

Never used it. What keywords do you have it look for?

Useless 2009-08-08 12:06 PM

Due to my uncontrollable paranoia, I had it look for my board name. I usually got the email alert about a day after I'd find the post myself, and it was always on this board anyway.

Well that proves it's fucked man, cuz I been talking shit about ya everyplace that would let me post.

I thought the stories about you with blowup Julia Child dolls were particularly funny. Shame you missed 'em.

A few months ago I tried to contact Boardtracker regarding a similar thing - spam on the Rated Hot board. In the end I talked to the Rated Hot people themselves and they took the whole board down. Boardtracker is running on autopilot, it seems.

Ahh, so you are the person responsible for that :)

I used to like Rated Hot, then it was sold and the new owner changed the board script to one that did not work properly (you could post new threads, but no one could post replies), so the damn thing just became a spam fest. Then the board disappeared. I could never understand the buyer's thinking in buying a site with a great board, and where the only thing that was really bringing in people was the board. Then having spent the money buying the board he just let it die. Seemed a waste of their money, and a sign of incompetent business practises. The buyer of the board was a well known adult webmaster (I'll not name him, it would not be fair considering what I am about to say). A short while after the board died I was looking for a new sponsor in a particular area, and the best I could find was run by this webmaster. However I got to thinking "if he is such a shit businessman that he buys sites then lets then die, wasting his money, then he is almost certainly going to be shit at running his sponsor program, and I do not want the hassle of dealing with a badly run program".

I used to like Rated Hot too (I've still got my T-shirt) and then it just went to shit. It's a shame they removed the board although I think they had planned to put it back up eventually.

Well it is well over a year now, so I guess they changed their mind. But even if they do, it is too late, the regular posters have moved away. They will simply be setting up from scratch, and might as well have just registered a new domain and set up a board for $9.99 rather than go to the expense of buying Rated Hot. Also there is the harm they did their own company, not only do they have people like me who avoid their service because of reasoned commercial thinking, there are plenty of ex-members who won't use them simply because they are pissed off with them for destroying the board.

It seems its becoming more common for a lot of services to be running on auto pilot, thankfully i dont tend to get much trouble from boardtracker, maybe its the terms used...who knows??
