Helping a friend

Hi to all. I have a friend who decided to start her own website. Some photographer told her he would build it and charged her a $1000. She came to me and asked if I would look at it and see what I thought. I did and told her what I thought. How the photographer was the only one making money on this deal. I also showed her some pointers on what to do. I also thought it would be good for her to listen to what you all have to say about the site and what she needs to do. I like her. She determine, has looks and has a level head on her. Her site is http://staceymadison.com/. So if you all would take a look and offer up your real opinions about her site and what needs to be done would be awesome!
Thanks Mike|bananna|

Pretty girl, she has potential.

IMO she needs to let the photographer stick with doing photography, he's not half bad at it, and hire a real designer to do the site. What she has there is pure amateur hour, and isn't going to convert sales.

For $1100 she could have gotten something like this from JD at MonstersOfBlog

WOW, Mike, you're right she a great looking woman. As for the site...I don't have the same kind words. Whoever the designer was ripped her off. That site isnt worth $100 let alone $1000 in my honest opinion.

The biggest thing I see is the lack of a tour. There are only preview images in the home page, that really leads to nothing. The navigational links are lost in the header and the choice for blue links against a ruby red background are tell tale sign of someone who has no clue as to what he was doing. The "store" isn't there so in all reality the site shouldn't even be live or the very least that shouldn't be an option at the time. I have to say without a tour of any kind no one is going to join for $10 let alone $24. I know it sounds a bit rough, and it has zero to do with her, she looks great. The site is what will not sell. She will also want to look into the Visa fees, it will help conversions in the long run it will pay off itself. I also see there is not 2257 information an absolutely no sales text.

Im shooting you a PM as well Mike

cute girl for sure. sad about the site costing so much. Live and learn. She gets it redone and is serious about getting a ton more content of her shot, she could be making some money for sure.

The site is horrible, she is gorgeous.
I'd promote her if she had a real website, but that website is completely fucked.

I'm afraid that's $1000 wasted. I'm not a big fan of those stock background in photos either. She should punch that guy in the face until it feels like $1000 worth.

the first thing you should have told her is to not spend a 1000 for a site, there is many who on this board that would have sent her in the right direction, i,ve seen free sites look better than that

Agreed, those pictures do not do her justice..and yes the website sucks.

A good photographer is worth far more than 1000 bucks a day - even for an amateur site, but I think the person shooting her current images isn't worth 100 bucks a month.

Those simple semi-nude-backdrop photos are boring and not inviting at all. They won't sell imho. I am certain she would do better shooting self pics with a digi cam in front of a bathroom mirror (hehehe, I am mean - I know, but people like and expect those kind of things from amateurs).

A lot of good photographers will be willing to make a test shoot for portfolio images for free and accept a percentage of sales. There are various resources for models and photographers online like http://www.modelmayhem.com/ Once she has a small amount of good content, she can think about site design imho.

I think she could make some serious money if she had the right person running her site ...(not that site)

but she could have a future in this business

I would premote her if she had a real site
