We went biking in a park on the other side of town this afternoon and saw these things all over the park. I'm baffled at what purpose they serve.

Frisbee or disc golf :)

Pretty fun game if you have the right crowd, same thing as golf but with frisbee's/disk. The chains keep the disk from hitting the pole and bouncing out, you want it in the basket.

The one time I played I about got bit by a tortoise I didn't see... I swear he jumped from no where!

I never even heard of it but I found the Wikipedia page on it after you told me what it was called. |thumb

Thanks for solving the mystery. :)

WTF dude, do animals just like to bite you.

I'm pretty sure that you are the only person that I've ever heard of that got bit by a tortoise. Was it a really slow bite?

Torn Rose 2009-12-13 08:10 PM

Yeah, something about my charm makes animals want to bite or lick me.

I had lost my disk in some dense bush and was looking for it when I stepped next to a "rock" and saw a beak come at my leg but i was just far enough away to avoid the bite. It was pretty good sized, biggest I've seen in that area by far.

Now when I was 12 and walking in a creek and almost stepped on a snapping turtle... well, that would have been bad had I not seen him first...

Disc golf is a VERY fun game. There was a really nice brand new course that got put in near our house when I was 5-6, I wonder if it is still around, I think I'll have to take an adventure next summer and see if that course still exists and play a round. Fond memories playing there with my dad when I was little.
