Mobile phone with built-in projector

I saw one of these on TV and my first thought was great for porn |boobies|

integrated micro-projection module that can project stored images and video as large as 30-40 inches (measured diagonally) on most surfaces. It can also be connected to external video sources such as DVD players, portable media players, set-top boxes and computers to serve as a multimedia projector capable of projecting a movie continuously for up to two hours with an image resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.

Their was a discussion a little while back about mobile phones & porn. One theory was that business travelers didn't want porn on their laptops going through customs. With this projector these phones should redefine the hands-free experience. |thumb

Here's a tube video

That is definitely pretty damn cool.

So the battery would last about 5 minutes I'm guessing.

That's pretty impressive.

I've been seeing another phone advertised that has a projector that snaps onto the back of the phone.

I guess you could always get a Micro Projector and iPhone video cables to do this with the iPhone but it would be a lot more crap to carry around.

Between the phones and tablet PCs coming out there is going to be a lot more options for watching stuff.

In an era of HD I would hate to be the guy trying to sell anything with an image resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.

I am seriously considering this one to replace my Fuze

Uh, we are talking about phones here. Would you prefer the little screen on them to watch porn.

The phone I showed
2.4 inch TFT LCD Touch-screen
240x320 pixels

The iPhone
3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display
480x320 pixels

Now if they built in the virtual keyboard, why would I need to carry a notebook around all the time.

Definitely starting to move towards a personal digital device!

Yeah, but we are talking about a projected image of 30-40 inches. I cannot see the buying public paying for an image of 30-40 inches that is only 640 x 480 pixels, regardless of the fact that the alternative is a small phone screen. Last year a local shop was selling off video cameras with an image resolution of 640 x 480, to clear them they had to charge 99p (less than $2).

Or you could go with the bluetooth virtual keyboard.

It shouldn't be long before the virtual keyboard gets built into the phone. Just add cloud computing, and we all get rid of the laptops.

It was featured in "Attack The Show". According to the hosts, the projection function is cool, but otherwise, the camera part isn't really that good. It takes blurry photos and the quality isn't good. You're definitely paying for the projector and not for the camera overall.

Got to love the new tech stuff at CES.

J-SiN 2010-01-22 01:34 PM

It is still an amazing feature. I just hope they fine tune it some more.

Ooooh, I want this. If they designed one in the same configuration as my split keyboard, I'd use this instead of my laptop keyboard that I'm constantly hitting the wrong key. I just think it would be cool to project that on a table at a coffee shop and watch people stare at you.
