Web patent nullified

Seems the Patent office has agreed to rebuke the EOLAS patent that they sued M$ over.

Although not the one everybody here is concerned about. But, it is a start in the right direction. Now you know why they didn't want to take on the big boys first.

I think this is fantastic news. I am quite surprised no one has replied to this yet. The simple fact that the patent office nullified this patent makes the claim that they are overworked, overwhelmed by patent requests, and not quite so savvy when it comes to web based technologies a little easier of a claim to make.
Thanks Tickler for brightening up my Monday morning

And it only took M$, W3, the FTC and some other prominent folks.

All Bush seniors fault!!!
He had to go and made the patent office self-financing, which is about the same as telling the cops they only get paid for the tickets they write.

How about these ones:
- Online affiliate programs are patented.
- Online shopping carts are patented.
- Frames are patented.
......and the list goes on.

Seems to be a pretty good backlash growing about these software patents though. Bad for business and bad for the internet.

My favorite is challenge in the making, is that the patent office doesn't have the constitutional authority to be issuing software patents. It apparently should have required an act of congress for them to branch out into new fields. And software was handled very nicely under copyright law before Bush Sr..
