Multi Browser Bookmark Help

Hey folks :)

Does anyone know of a simple piece of code I can use that will allow a browser to bookmark a page with a single click, which will work on any/most browser platforms?

I'm trying to avoid having to use the generic "press CTRL D" for Firefox and the age old windows.open for IE, unless they can be incorporated into a cross browser bookmarking script.

Even if it only works for IE, FF and Opera it would be a start. I doubt it's possible to include the likes of Chrome but that would be a nice inclusion.

Any help would be appreciated and feel free to use this yourself should we get a result that works well |thumb

I'm pretty sure that nothing will work with browsers that are based on Webkit like Safari and Chrome.

That's my thinking as well but anything that does the majority of browser types would be better than what I have at the moment.

For the likes of facebook, twitter and digg etc, I'm going to add a set of quick link buttons to the bottom of the pages so people can easily copy the page link to their personal pages.

I'm basically trying to make life easy for browsers and get some extra traffic :)

How about using AddThis? Your visitors would then also be able to bookmark on their favorite social sites.

I have signed up for an account with them and the analytics are pretty cool.

LOL, not bad if you want to share where you surf porn with others ;)

Sharing is caring. :)

And the more they care, the more traffic we get and the more traffic we get, the more money we make. ;)

Thanks meat and AJ.

I am looking at both options and AJ's works well for the social side, which I fully intended to do anyway so it may be that I will go with that option as it covers everything in one go.
