Would you pay $99 for an Android App?

Has everyone here joined in the mobile bandwagon?

Stephen Yagielowicz reports that a Android apps for porn is now being offered by company for $99. You guys think this is too steep for something that is largely untested? And have you ever worked with someone who is "mobile savvy", and do their performance (and the performance of the technology) inspire confidence in you to go through with it?

Here's an excerpt of the XBiz article.

Quote:

LOS ANGELES — pornMonkey.mobi has announced the launch of its Android app program at XXXPhoneApps.com, for adult websites targeting Smartphone users.

According to the company, its $99 Android app will drive traffic directly to the marketer's mobile website.

"It is a really cool app," Director of Business Development Mark Cave said. "This is an Android app that the user downloads to their phone. One click on the app icon and your site launches in their mobile browser. It is a great marketing tool."

"The app is a "site drop" type of app, that when clicked, takes the user directly your site. One click on the icon launches the mobile browser to the URL you specify. Fast, sweet, and simple."

So all this app does is create a bookmark icon on the home screen???

Not sure about Android phones but the iPhone does that for free.

They are selling their programming services for $99 to create an application that opens up a page in the default browser. Basically, a packaged 'bookmark' for the android desktop.

That application could then be distributed by the sponsor to end users for whatever price. They aren't selling the app to end users but to sponsors.
