Semantics
 
I am curious about how everyone defines the term Webmaster. Will you tell me what the absolute basic knowledge is nessesary to be considered one by you? I look forward to reading some opinions on this

Someone that has a mastery of making web pages.

I don't know… it is kind of a loosely defined term.

Some time ago on another board we had a big long multi day thread about if woman should be called webmistress or webmaster.

My def is: "Someone who has successful demonstrated a mastery of all sectors of the web."

Others may have differing opinions but that's the one I use.

Yes, this is sorta the same definition I use. Someone who can program for the web, TELNET pretty much be a web designer and an IT person. By my own definition, I am NOT a webmaster. But a few years ago I just accepted the fact that if you have a web page up, your making money with it, people are gonna call you a webmaster. So I basically caved in and started referring to myself as one to

I would define it as one who works on creating pages for a website - I certainluy consider myself a "webmaster" in that I create & maintain web sites & pages.
