Status of Markslinks update

Here is what I know as of this evening.
I reported my credit card lost to my bank a few months ago. (which I did actually lose)
The bank (without notifying me) decided to charge back ALL internet transactions.
Of which was domain renewal for another domain I renewed with Totalnic. But they figured All transactions were fraud, so Totalnic dropped the DNS listing.

After several phone calls, faxes.....
I sent a certified check to Totalnic to cover the 3 domains, fees....
But Totalnic says it still may take 3 - 5 business days to get back online.. what a crock.

Anyway, DNS should be propogating Tues/Wed.

I haven't gone anywhere, I do have another job, but not Internet related (for other reasons)

Sorry for All of the inconvenience... Up to 3 submits per day (into different categories) will be allowed for a couple weeks to clear your back logs of submits.

You must be doing a whole lot of this |banghead| right now.

I know I would have to be put in restraints by now. |angry|

I was just at your domain today with a submit wondering what was up, glad to hear you will be back up soon.

If there is anything that I can do to help just let me know. All of your stuff is still listed with me and isn't going anywhere. :)

Started with this |club|
Move to this within about an hour |swordfigh
A day later moved on to |bigfuckin
Feel like I've been this |assfuck|

Though not being able to review has lead me to level 11 of WarCraft 3 LOL
(still used to sitting in front of the computer all night)

Surfn 2004-03-12 07:45 PM

Damn Dare that sucks big time!!! I would have my lawyers all over their collective asses!

Cleo 2004-03-12 07:50 PM

I would be switching domain registers after this.

dareutwo 2004-03-12 07:51 PM

Thought of that Surfn -
Did the math though... it will be probably a week of down time.
Lawyer fees would equal or exceed that, and they still aren't sure if I have any recourse, because I reported the cc as lost. - which to the banks means "Lost/Stolen" - and they use Stolen apparently.

Now I'm actually taking some advice from Tommy from years ago.
When things go wrong - which they will - grab a beer and do something else.

Server errors etc normally take hours, but I'm extending this one for about a week and playing some games I started 3 years ago.. LOL

Cleo -
I have 2 registrars for this reason. 80% of my domains are still up, most of the free sites, etc.
Totalnic and Directnic..
It was totalnic that actually waded through the paperwork and let me know what was going on. I didn't have a clue Why until they emailed me.

So yeah, it was a pain in the ass learning experience, but I will probably be keeping them.

Ramster 2004-03-12 08:04 PM

That is just screwed up! I feel for ya. Registrars...|lightsabe

gnomey 2004-03-14 11:17 AM

Sucks what happened but glad your sites will be back up soon. I still have a couple of sites waiting for ya :)

Surfn 2004-03-14 02:07 PM

Dare

I was looking in my logs and saw you sending hits on a gallery I didn't sub to you? I know by the index # who I did sub it to. If you would like I can add you to my sub list. You can ask MML, Dr B, Shemp among others what type of galleries I build.

If you require a partner code let me know.

Is the lesson from this that if a domain is making you money, register it for 10 years?

dareutwo 2004-03-15 09:51 PM

Actually the lesson is Don't lose your credit card.
That's the root cause here, well that and an absurb bank.

I wouldn't register anything past 2 years for the simple reason it's the Internet. Things change Very Very fast.
This could happen;
25 domains @ 15.00 per year = 375.00
times 10 years = $3,750.00

3 years into this the Register goes bankrupt :(
You lose $2,625.00
And, if your lucky - you can Re Register them - now you're out $3,750.00

For a single domain, I wouldn't be worried... but I don't have just one domain.
