Why a private message, are you ashamed of your sites?

(Reading my post back it looks kind of snipey, this is NOT my intention, this is genuinely meant as advice to you and to anyone reading this who is considering doing what you just did.)

If you fail to list your sites in your post, most people will assume they are no good or that you are a cheater. And when you reply to this criticism by saying "contact me privately for the info", most experienced webmasters will take this as proof positive that either the sites are crap or that you are a cheater. If you don't have the confidence in your sites to list them publicly then you shouldn't really post link exchange requests, you do yourself more harm than good.
