Internet porn stats: should parents be concerned?

An interesting read, plus a nice embeddable graphic if anybody wants. |thumb

This line pretty much sums things up, at least for my generation. |waves|

Is a child who looks for porn on the internet really any worse than the 11-year-old kids from yesteryear who stole their old man’s nudie magazines and hid out in their tree fort looking at them through the dim beam of their flashlight?

An infographic called “The Stats on Internet Pornography” offers up some surprising – and some expected – results. Should parents be keeping a closer eye on their children’s internet use, or is it inevitable: kids want to see porn just as much as adults do?

IMO the comparison is apples and oranges, when it comes to the nudes one sees in a Playboy magazine vs. the explicit hardcore widely available on the Internet.

Good point. Playboy barely showed pussy (Hustler and Club did plus hardcore). The internet has gangbangs, gagging, bukkake, fetish, anything and everything.

Did you notice how the 2 top "porn related" search terms were actually "sex" and "adult dating". So they're including any searches for sexual information in their moral panic. AND the idea that two people wanting to meet for sex is "porn".

Consider that there is more good quality sex information available to kids now than in the days of nudie magazines. I think that counts for a great deal. You can't put them in burkas but you can educate them.

Nice to know about the Thanksgiving Stat.

I'll remember to take a couple days off during turkey day.

Porn is not good

I don't think watching Porn is good for children.

Some images in porn are really abusive, and children (young boys) may develop a mentality that abusing women is a normal part of sex life.
