Tax Time Is Near - Are You Ready?

Well, Corporate Tax time has come & gone here in the US - to me, that's the easy part as the business always seems to break even :D

Of course, personal tax time is right around the corner. Are you ready?

In the next couple of weeks my Tax Attorney/CPA will file an extension. We do this every year. Better to have my money working for me a few more months than giving it to the government.

I always seen to underpay my quarterly estimated taxes so I get this nice package from my accountant with instructions on where and what to sign and include a check for a bunch of money that I never have. It doesn't help that some of my larger insurance bills come due at the same time.

Done, and owe $11 to the feds, we been making payments, so we was ready for the most part. |greenguy|

Now the state we owe $300 |raygun|

which is yet another reason we want to move to FL..... No State taxes.

All done and dusted here 2 weeks ago - all taxes here are levied locally, and depending on where you live, taxes vary - pleased as punch this year as I saved a nice wedge by moving a few kilometers over the border from Kanton Luzern.

I love my accountant :D

cheers,

Paul.

Mine are evened out... I owed for this year, but I got money back for the last 2 years. My new accountant found stuff that my old "conservative" accountant missed... I WAY overpaid a few years in a row.

We just dropped our tax records and reciepts off at our accountants office today. I don't know what the damage is yet but since we didn't do them quarterly I know I am going to cry when I write the check to the IRS.

Bill 2004-03-23 08:57 PM

I haven't done them yet, but I believe I may have overpaid my quarterlys this time, and might get a refund, for the first time in quite a few years.

I'm doing the pretax stuff now, I was filling out the forms for IRAs earlier today, but I won't actually do them until about a week before the 15th.

I agree with Surfn -
I'll keep my money working FOR ME instead of wherever it seems to go, as long as I can.
The option is there as a rule, simply playing by their rules.

If I had MY WAY - I'd write a 3k check directly to MY local DMV and instruct them to fix the damn highway 1 mile from here.

*LOL* @ Mark..

You know once when i was really pissed off at having to pay i wrote my check and attached a letter stating where i wanted my money disbursed.

I got a nice little letter back from the IRS stating that it wasn't possible to designate where the money went.

the next year i got audited. Luckily for me the guy i got as my auditor was a big fan of rock n roll so i just compted him some tickets, got him into a couple of after parties and my return had minimal penalties. After that he'd call me once in a while and i'd send him tickets and never got audited again.

Nothing like bribing the IRS.

I typically try to delay doing my taxes as long as possible, in favor of less painful things such as :

-going to the dentist
-getting kicked in the jimmy
&
-listening to my wife complain about not having our taxes done

I feel the deadline nearing, and am out of less painful things to do, so I've started getting my numbers together this week.

Hi SeeNudity |waves| welcome to the board :)

angeleyes 2004-03-25 11:38 AM

I'm thrilled with tax season this year. Our office accountant did mine and it turns out I'm getting back a nice chunk of change and I thought I was going to owe! |bananna|

Sly 2004-03-25 03:04 PM

I just had mine done and was stoked to see that I didn't owe anything even close to what I figured I would. Accountants kick ass. |afro|

Amber 2004-03-25 05:47 PM

Luckily, I'm all set with my taxes this year. And my accountant's name is Charlie Brown...so you KNOW he's awesome! ;)
