Building a freesite for the first time....

Just check out the major LLs and see what they are listing. That way you can get a good idea on what you should build. and ofcourse follow the rules.
I suggest you build a site first and then come back to ask what LL owners think of it.

Fonzs advice is really good. I checked tons of freesites before building my own, but I still ended up screwing things up a lot in the beginning. Here are a few tips from someone who just recently was screwing up freesites all the time.

- Try out your sites in Explorer and Firefox at the least, you can try the other browsers, but sometimes the two major ones display funny.

- Make sure you don't have blind links to other link lists. I found myself screwing that up quite a bit.

But there are tons of people on here that helped out myself and others with freesites so yeah, it's a good idea to submit a sample and they'll be helpful for you.

and read the link lists rules not once but several times, any questions about any of them, ask away..many of us free site build daily..so we have the answers you require..
more help can be found in this little tutorial i did many years ago...if you follow the basic site layout given here, http://www.vnwr.com/npows/basicfree.html ...you will find yourself accepted at most places you submit too...and don't forget to read the link lists rules, especially about the current size requirements for your content...

One thing I'll add is that you will see two link niche recipes as the required link code but I don't know of any place that won't accept a single line one URL these days which is all that I use these days. Also 30 recipes on one doorway is acceptable these days.

Ok check out this first site:

The recips on this page are one line recips. They just say the name of the site and link to the homepage.

This is two line with niches. If you notice it shows a name of the site and below has a line with a category pointing to a niche. Most freesites want this way, but honestly any of the important ones take it either way.

I use two lines, but I'm going to change to single lines.

Ahhhh ok, I think I understand it now. I will read up on link list rules now.
