Tell me what you think?

Alright guys, try not to bust my balls too much. Can you tell me what you think of my site so far.

More pics? more banners? more text? Any tips would be great.

Not bad really. I'd make the thumbs larger. 140x210 would make a row of five about the same width as the banners.

The last line of text isn't bad, but the two lines of MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED are rather passive. I'd change them to something that is more of a call to action and expresses some sense of urgency. For example, add the word NOW! after CLICK HERE on the line at the bottom. Two more similar lines of sales text to replace the passive ones and you're set.

Thanks for checking it out, I did change the membership required but Idk how much better these will be. Yeah now that I think about it they were rather "passive", I guess I will eventually pick up on this better as time and practice goes on. Also, I tried to make them larger but how do I do that because not all the photos are the same size and even when I tried to resize them they seemed to be bigger/wider then others. So I just took it like that off the hosted gallery as is.

You'll need to crop then resize, just keep your aspect ratio consistent when you crop.

I use a program called Arles, by Digital Dutch.

Is that many links allowed on a freesite? I thought it was 3 links per page? I swear I was rejected a few times for too many ads, but maybe someone else can offer insight on this.

I thought it was 3 banners allowed and the text links were ok? I might be wrong but idk.

It's three links max per page.

Also if you submit to TGPs some of their scripts actually count the total tags that go to another domain so if you have poorly formatted html you could have more than one link tag per ad counted against your total.

warning page: up to 40 reciprocal links ( if one line reciprocal ) / up to 3 ( trusted up to 4 ) links to sponsor
main page: up to 3 ( trusted up to 4 ) links to sponsor
galleries page: up to 3 ( trusted up to 4 ) links to sponsor

sometimes submitters link 2257 but it's not necessary, unlinked 2257 url is enough and additional warning text is required on warning page

( trusted ): trusted submitter as described here and it seems that lot's of other LL's adopted this standard but make sure which ones

Toby 2011-02-22 01:13 PM

Ummm, why are we talking about Free Site rules when this is a gallery?

DPTKID 2011-02-22 08:29 PM

Isnt it basically the same?

TGP is one page.

Free Site is four pages.

Index page goes to Main Page with links to two galleries.

Here is an example site of mine

In many respects yes, but the primary difference is that method of review. Most Free Sites will be reviewed manually for compliance. Since it's a single page, most TGPs rely on their submit scripts to do all but the final review. Scripts are much less forgiving.

The link limit for TGP galleries is for total external links, including recips. Most limit that to 8 to 10, but some as few as 6. If you have some recips with two links, you can exceed the link limit quickly.

There's also a difference in the overall sales philosophy of a free site vs a gallery. Most long term free site submitters will tell you that they get far more sign-ups from their warning and main pages than from their galleries, that also means that the surfer has already seen the initial sales pitch before ever getting to the galleries. With the TGP gallery, all you have is that one page, so you have to pique their interest and sell them on visiting the site in just that one page.

Sorry I was thinking he wanted help on a freesite because his other thread stated that so I must have been thinking along those lines.

DPTKID 2011-02-23 12:00 AM

Sorry if Im confusing everyone haha.

Simon 2011-02-23 06:15 AM

Confused too here.

I thought it was the start of a complete new website, not a gallery nor a standard 4-page free site, since it was on its own domain and not in a sub-directory.

No need for a new domain for every free site (or gallery).

Cleo 2011-02-23 07:48 AM

I'm still confused by this thread. I thought it was about how to build free sites starting with how to make the galleries but now I'm not sure what the topic is.

HowlingWulf 2011-02-23 11:00 AM

I wouldn't waste a top level domain on a gallery.

DPTKID 2011-02-23 01:55 PM

Alright guys, sorry for the confusion, I was a little confused on how somethings work.

I was under the impression a "One page'r" could still be a free site (gallery or not), guess I was wrong...ha.

So a free site is four pages, Im gonna redo it and make it four pages following the rules that I have read online/here from a few different link lists.

Ahhhh I guess I should have read things twice, and yeah a tgp gallery isnt what I was trying to do but I will start over.

I do apologize again guys and I will work on making it a free site and ask your opinions....again.

Simon 2011-02-23 04:39 PM

Before you can build a "Free Site" (the standard kind submitted to Link Lists), you really need to spend a few days looking at lots and lots of the Free Sites listed on the main Link Lists where you want to submit yours some day.

I say this not just because it's true ... but also because it's not only about understanding structure. A monkey can learn structure. It's about understanding how to use that structure to motivate the customers who are actually interested in where you want them to go next.

The other option is to just build sites which pass all the rules but rarely make a sale.

So, at least you have a choice.

HTH

:)

DPTKID 2011-02-23 06:34 PM

Hey Simon,
I will be sure to go through a bunch of free sites before I submit them. How do I know what are good link lists to submit to? Yea I wanna make sales definitely haha, thats the only choice I want LOL.

The Epic 2011-02-24 03:20 AM

Check this thread

There is a lot of useful info here.

DPTKID 2011-02-25 03:41 PM

Alright guys, can you check my site out again and let me know if link lists will accept it. (I didnt put any recip link in there yet)

The Epic 2011-02-25 08:16 PM

Pretty good although you might want to make your enter link bigger and you don't really need an exit link on there.

It's not a bad site you have going there.

DPTKID 2011-02-25 08:59 PM

Thanks Epic, I will def make the enter link bigger and will lose the exit haha.
