It's Sunday morning the real 20th. 20111120

Waking up to a wet one this morning.

Rain, wind, just pain nasty outside in our part of this big spinning rock this morning.
|hurricane
Had planned of kayaking yesterday but when it go cancelled due to high winds we thought of maybe trying for today but it's even nastier outside this morning than it was yesterday morning.

On the plus side I got the new tour up for TSDivaGirls yesterday since there wasn't anything else to do but work. Now if only this tranny would actually update the member's area sometime this year.

Christy wants to go over to the Mini Cooper dealer today so that we can test drive one so we may do that today. I'm actually interested in the Mini Cooper Roadster that coming out next year.

Good morning world |waves|

In an example of how life imitates art (and knowing how some here view bacon as its own food group),
here's an April Fool's joke that turned into a real product...

Wishing a good Sunday to all.

Good Morning :)
It's raining here today. Some work, run to the store, bills, hair buzz and then pizza and movies later.

Cleo,
I saw the Mini Cooper Roadster in Canada on my last trip and just saw one around SoCal last week so they should be available now. BTW, I think it looks much better in person then it does in pictures.

About a year or so before Smart cars were available in the USA, there were a handful of them around here through a local company that was bringing them through DOT inspections. I would suspect that there are people bringing these in early as they are in production somewhere prepping for 2012's release.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

I saw one at Whole Foods yesterday and even talked to the guy that had rented it. Not much bigger than a Smart Car. I just remember Fiats being rather POS but I guess they are a totally redesigned car now. He didn't like it all though.

We went to the Mini Cooper dealer this morning and test drove a loaded hardtop sport model.

I like that all Mini Coopers have run flat tires. I've really gotten to appreciate having run flats on my present car.

It was like bit like driving a go cart but in a good way. Reminded me of driving the MR2 that I use to own. It was an automatic and we had a not too friendly sales lady in the backseat so I didn't push it at all but I did really like the way it drove and was surprised at how rooming the driver's seat was.

Half way through the test drive Christy took over so I ended up squashed up in the passenger’s seat since I couldn't put the seat back due the sale's lady in the back seat. Back seat is definitely for kids or double amputees only.

They had a two seater hardtop model with a six speed that I really would have preferred to have taken for a test drive but it seems one needs an appointment to test drive it.

The ragtop two seater roadster model will be available in February and they managed to get my phone number so I guess they will be calling me when they are available. Should be fun taking the stick shift model for a test drive and really seeing how it drives. Thinking about it brings back found memories of taking the Vette that I own now for a test drive that resulted in the sales guy totally freaking out.

Also noticed that they are now making a four door SUV type Mini Cooper that isn't mini at all.

I second that one as well. Especially since the Fiat 500 Abarth model is coming.

we had small fiat in Poland years ago, right now it's very desirable subject of any weird mods

One of the ideas I've been thinking about for a number of years was taking a 73/74 Morris Mini ragtop, putting a K20A2 Type S VTEC, supercharger, take the lower chassis of a Rav4 and make it All Wheel Drive and add Air Conditioning.

Based on some preliminary calculations, I suspect I should be able to get pretty close to a 0-60 in under 3 seconds and should be in the 30mpg range and would be comfortable enough to be a daily driver. I've seen a similar race-lightened mini without AWD turning 0-60 times of 3.14-3.2 seconds.

I did drive a new mini a few years back - Turbo with the paddle shifters. Even though the 6 speed was available, I really think I would still opt for the automatic with the traffic in South Florida.

The Abarth is another one I was looking at, but, for now, I'll stick to theory. :)

Oh, here's Florida sticking it to us.

HOV/Express lanes are free for Hybrids that get 30+mpg. Prius and the other hybrids are allowed to use those lanes free.

However, if you bring a grey-market Bluetec Diesel Smart Car down which gets 70mpg and is considered VLEV, since it is not a hybrid, it doesn't qualify for the free pass that the other less economical hybrids get even if you were to use Biodiesel. :)
