Moving from PC to Mac? Thoughts?
 

I'm considering moving from PC to MAC. How hard is the transition/learning curve?

Much easier than going from Mac to PC.

Command key does what the Control key does on a PC as in copy and paste.

Don't really have to worry about viruses.

If you are into using a command line Terminal gives you access to standard unix commands since Macs are basically unix with a Mac GUI.

My Macs go weeks and even months between restarts.

Natural scrolling will throw you off for a little bit, but, after a few days, it'll become natural.

You can set your trackpad to have a right click 'area' so that it works more like a PC. I believe you can use normal 2-button mice.

For the most part, you won't see a lot of difference. You can run BootCamp in case you want to reboot into windows, or, with Parallels you can run a Windows instance in a virtual machine.

Terminal/Command Prompt is Unix rather than DOS, so, if you are used to dropping to a command prompt to do things, you need to use the Unix equivalents.

Most applications work the same. If you're near an Apple store, they will do the data migration from your PC to a Mac (I'm not sure if there is a fee for this).

The only thing I found weird at first was installing programs on Mac but once you get that you should have no problems.

What kind of this do you need to use the command line for?

I don't use Macs, but that comment would put me off. It can only work like that if Macs do less than PCs.
