I write my own scripts for things like traffic trades (in Perl).

mOrrI 2012-12-29 11:02 AM

Hum...
I've never messed with perl...

I need to checkout some alternative to the one in using at the moment...

You should consider it (or another language). I work long hours to do all that I do, but if I did not have the ability to throw together "off the cuff" Perl scripts to automate some tasks I'd end up having to work well over 24 hours a day every day, which is of course impossible. At a ballpark figure, without Perl I'd be earning about half as much as I do earn, paying money out for scripts I could not do without (like traffic trading) and would probably only be doing this as a "hobby" rather than my main job. More importantly (to me) I would not be in the position I am in at the moment, which is to be about to embark on my life long dream of moving into (non-adult) film production.

Basically I owe Larry Wall a hell of a lot. In the unlikely event that he is reading this, thanks mate.

Did you get the paid or free version? I currently use Trade Pulse for my TGP's but might try this one out too and see if there is any difference in traffic.

Does anyone ever use Traffic Scripts on Blogs? If so which ones?

Thanks

I got the free version that takes a small amount of traffic. It can be changed to the paid version just by entering a license number.

Real easy to install. Doesn't seem to use MySQL which I found odd. Switching everything over from my old script wasn't too bad.

So far the only annoyance with it is the admin doesn't display correctly in Safari so I have to use Firefox. Not a big deal but it annoying since I do everything else in Safari.

Thank you Cleo, Might have to give it a shot and compare the two.

Thanks again,

The part I like best is that you can tie multiple installs together so you can get summary of all your sites in one place. Saves you from having to log in to each site separately unless you want more detailed data.

mOrrI 2013-01-08 05:56 PM

How easy is to compile several sites in one install?

Toby 2013-01-08 10:25 PM

You have to install separately on each site, then link them in each of the admins. It's just a matter of entering the matching code numbers from each admin into the others.

Well Just installed the script on some of my domains... looks good...

But it seems that I will have to deactivate the security image in the signup form, since it doesn't show the images...

And someone from the hosting told me that the libs are installed... (php - GD library required)

ahh welll :D

mOrrI 2013-01-15 08:05 PM

Finally it's solved.... :)

A missing flag in the GD installation... :p
