Webmaster Tutorials

hi

i know you're busy

i am setting up a website at www.pornographyuniversity.com

it will have how-to tutorials for porn surfers to learn how to become porn webmasters

if you want to write an educational how-to tutorial(s) i'd be happy to post it on the site. it can be general in nature, but you can include specific areas related to your site to use as a specific example

byline and link backs given

eg

How To Make Money With Free Porn Sites

Be aware that you are opening yourself up to a world of pain. I tried a similar thing a few years ago and found:

1. Plenty of insulting comments on boards (including this one).

2. Newbie webmasters pestering me with stupid questions, some of which were so stupid they made my recent "cheese" question look sensible. (Most common question: "I want to set up a website, but I don't want to have to sign up with a hosting company, how do I set up a site without using hosting?")

3. Any tools you offer will be 40% deliberately misused for dishonest means, 40% used incorrectly by idiots with a lower IQ than the average house brick, and only about 20% used properly. (For example I had a free to use gallery submit form, when I looked at the logs a hell of a lot of people had attempted to sign up to use it without choosing a username or password, they simply left that part of the form blank!)

4. Most people using your site will set up their own site, notify Google/Yahoo/etc and simply ignore any advice you give on "getting traffic" because it seems like too much hard work. Then a few weeks later they will send you an abusive message, calling you a fraud because they are not millionaires already. Because, as everyone knows, you only have to own an adult site to become instantly rich, and the only reason it has not worked for them is that you deliberately held back necessary information so as to make them fail.

And this was back when it was a lot easier to make good money in this business. Now it is harder, you are probably going to end up getting more abuse, both from failed newbies and established webmasters who don't want the competition.

Although that having been said, if I can find the time (I currently work about 100 hours a week) I may write an article or two for you in exchange for a link to my affiliate program.

@ecchi,

I like this post and understand your frustration. It looks like you had certain goals you wanted to achieve and it seems it didn't work out (typical of most of these types of sites)

Since you control the site, why not:

#1 Disable the comments. Approve ones with value
#2 Give simple answers to simple questions
#3 People will do what they want. You can't do much with that
#4 White hat SEO can only be done with trusted partners, so there is definite risk to open it up to just anyone

@newxxx sounds like the site being made is either a blog or locked type forum.

Actually I took the simpler option. I closed the site down!

No, my site was nowhere near that big. Initially I set it up for my clients, then opened it out to the general public.

I still run a site for my clients, but I no longer let the great unwashed anywhere near it.
