Administration wages war on pornography

I don't think this has been posted yet. If so, my apologies. Interesting reading.

I've followed this topic for a year now, and everything suggests it's got legs. The hope is we'll be able to vote this administration out of office in November.

Google and Yahoo recently announced they will be dropping gambling sites from their index. If this anti-porn storm continues, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen to porn. And that would be a major hit to the industry. Not to mention the credit card companies might feel the pressure and back out completely.

Of course, this is just a nightmare scenario, but then again, Bush is a nightmare of a President.

This is why I posted that article awhile back about the industry self-regulating itself.

Flickstah 2004-04-08 04:12 AM

Yep...

I read in AVN Online a last month about Reagan's second term fight against porn to pay back the religious right that got him elected. They were talking about how Bush would undoubtably take this same path to pay back his religious right backing him.

I say this isn't a joke in the least. The sky is truely almost falling. We'll see this issue pick up a lot of steam when Bush is re-elected. I knew he'd make a second term before the Iraq war when all the news networks were not showing the millions of people protesting Bush and his holy war on the middle eastrn oil countries. America is run by the super rich elite, what they want goes. Making more things illegal brings in more money for those making the arrests, period.

They intent on cashing in on all this free market money by heavily regulating and outlawing our industry.

All I can do is hope for the best! |sad|

Unless people stand up for their rights to look at sexual material and bring it to a major public issue I think the Ashcroft nazis will get precisely what they seek; complete sexual inhibitation.

Yippee Ky Oh Ky Yah! Cowboy, this people need to grow up. It's pathetic to have someone who

Ashcroft, a religious man who does not drink alcohol or caffeine, smoke, gamble or dance, and has fought unrelenting criticism that he has trod roughshod on civil liberties in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, is taking on the porn industry at a time when many experts say Americans are wary about government intrusion into their lives.
lives his life like that to try and enforce 'community standards' when the mainstream would clearly view him and his world views as extreme. This issue won't go away any time soon, but the millions spent trying to prosecute 'pornographers' is seriously wasted when there is so much else they could be doing to improve the standard of living in the US.

so how many pornographers are there, webmasters, models, content providers, cam hoes, site owners??

100K? and how many in the US?? 50K?? if each of us started now and volunteered just 1 hour per week to voter education or voter registration or answering phones at the DNC office in your community.. we alone could affect a change. if we get our spouse/partner etc.. as well that double the effort.

We can bitch, moan, wring our hands, wail at a wall, discuss as much as we want, but unless we push back, step away from our computer and act..he will be re-elected.

of course that just my opinion.

Anyone watch the daily show? Did anyone see last night about the Diebold Voting machines? How they can be hacked and tracks of hacking erased within 5min.?

Bush will be re-elected. I have been watching this electronic voting fraud machine story unfold since the beginning. It scares me a lot. The president of Diebold Inc. was quoted as saying to bush something like "You are a great man, I can garantee my state will be in your favor". Now what kind of "corporate criminal" (as george carlin would say) would publicly say that when you are the one who is ultimately responsbile for the vote numbers?

It's not the voters who decide an election, it's those COUNTING the votes who decide. |raygun|

Bush has voiced this vote machine corruption concern and has established policies of keeping printout records of votes, but the policies will conveniently not be enforced until AFTER the 2004 election. How nice of him |jester|

by the way

by the way the URL for the vote box scandle is blackboxvoting.com

which just validates my statement..

quoting braveheart: what happens if you don't try?? Nothing.

well, i said about 6 months ago when i t was still possible that we needed a PAC political action commite, just like tobbaco and gun lobbiests, and put up a poll on another board only me and one other responded and were willinging to put out money and time to it (sad and short sited on the others) well now it is a bit late both candidates are bought and paid for and there is little time to organze, there was no reason a $40 billion a year industry could not have come up with 100-300 million painlessly and took our future in our own hands, but to me seems a bit late so i will wait til the summer and see, if it is as bad as i think it might be i'll be calling host to pull plug lol since i got into ths a little late and dont make enough to goto jail, nor could i afford a trial. maybe if some of the top companies can lead the way it might not be to late people would need to move quick and others would follow. the industry organized against acicia real quick so trying to affect a very important election would help us all. just my opinion of course but have been watching and been worried for quite awhile, in order for bush to get re-elected he needs to major things to occupy the evening news another war to keep people scared of political change and a moral issue and porn looks great taken out of context to shock people when sensationalized in a 30 second news item. my only hope is we get lost to the gay marrige issue lol might be our only hope.:)

okay, seriously folks, did yall read the article?

they arent going after honest porographers like us - they are going after the sickos... where that ends is anyones guess but
Quote:

Cambria won, convincing a jury of 12 women, all between the ages of 40 and 60, that the tapes had educational value and helped reduce inhibitions. They reached the verdict in less than three hours.
that gives me hope - even if the "ashcroft nazis" bring prossicution odds are they will be aquited

when i see quotes by the investigators such as
Quote:

"This stuff isn't the easiest to deal with," Nguyen said recently while at his computer. "But I think we're going after the bad guys and we're making a difference, and that's what makes it worthwhile."
i dont think they are looking at the stuff we do and having trouble dealing with it... this is just typical doom and gloom media attention to freak us all out.

flicksta... if the sky is falling, then get out of the industry and let me have all your domians, otherwise you are all just pissing and worring about shit that hasnt yet, and probably wont come to pass.

my point is that as soon as someone gets prossicuted the whole industry is going to come to their aid and put up a serious fight, just like flynt said will happen, and in fact did when he was prossicuted.

make your money folks, quit worrying about the "nazis" because there really arent any. the religious right isnt as powerful as you think and most conservatives (such as myself) are not anti porn.

bash me if you want but i plan on working and taking market share while you folks run around saying i have my head in the sand.

oh and one more thing... be careful thinking the DNC is the industrys friend, remember what happend to the music industry when the dems set their sights on them. Democrats are the ones who dont think the public can handle things without the government makeing sure its okay first. only a small portion of the republican party is of that mindset and like i just said the religious right has a helluvalot less power than you think it does

Tommy 2004-04-08 07:19 PM

a conservative pornographer |jester|

stuff like this makes me very very nervous

security_man 2004-04-08 08:38 PM

LOL what can i say? im a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. ;)

and while im quoting churchill..

"Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains."

i was a young conservative LOL
