Do You Create A Hub Page For Your Free Sites and/or Galleries?
 

I just posted this over in this week's "What Are You Working On?" Thread:
And it reminded me that I've been wanting to ask a question:

Do You Create A Hub Page For Your Free Sites and/or Galleries? If so, can you post an example or 2?

I'm talking more along the lines of a hub page just for a created or ongoing batch of Free Sites or Galleries.

An example of an ongoing hub page, for me anyway, would be this:

I did stop making Free Sites for this because the ratios were HORRENDOUS, but each month, as they released new Hosted Galleries, I'd match them up, build some Free Sites, and then add them to the page. It's a shame I couldn't convert them, because I did enjoy making nude celeb galleries :(

I just list the galleries I make on my TGP network.

For the most part I do as Toby does. All folders where content is located have redirects back to the root of the domain which is part of some daily updated network which used niched pretty well because the se's like that a couple years back, not so much now :(

Thou I have done some of those mini hub pages for a particular sponsor you are talking about, here are a couple that I remember.

I keep telling myself to do more of these since the EMD penalty came in that hurt my network but I keep forgetting. Plus I am spending more time putting fresh new content into the admins that update those networks and pulling out old/bad stuff to see if this helps.

I miss MML and his OTB Saturdays. Learned a bunch or was re-reminded of stuff you forget or stopped doing because of something new.

thats one of those things i probably should be doing that dont.

follow up question. do you make a 'clean' version of your freesites too? meaning a warning page w/o recips.

I've been putting my recips on the main page because, when I link to them from the hub, it seems silly to link to the warning page on each, so I link to the main page from there. This way, the recips get seen :)

Thanks for a positive classification! |fonz| It would be even greater to have a 2 levels there instead of 3. But I can't change the whole concept at this time. :(

Question, how are you getting traffic to these hubs?

Just by submitting free sites.

Abatis, I do not make separate clean freesites. I usually only make one version and that is plugged into my network to show up on whatever niche pages/domains I tag it for.

Toby, I usually link back to those hub pages from the warning/main page of the freesites involved.

OK, then you must be linking to that hub from the free sites. Does that really generate much additional traffic to sponsors? Do you update the hub when you make more free sites?

I'm looking at this from a return on investment point of view, with the investment being time. Time is a precious commodity in a one man shop.

I'm in the same place as you. For myself the handful I did were a test for things I did not have matching domains for. Surprisingly they got a little traffic and produced 2 whole sales. Soooo, a few years back it did not make much sense for me because my network of daily updated EMD hubs were rocking. Because of recent se changes I am thinking about it again.

I mostly just link to them from the footer area of the free sites. They are more there for SEO purposes - to make the domain seem bigger & more organized (if that makes sense)

This make a sense, comon design would be also great. Despite this fact I don't belive, that this action can bring any reasonable traffic (when we stay focused on free sites).

I'm afraid that we can count additional traffic in promiles, I simply built it because I donť like a mess on my sites. :) Regarding sales, 3-10 per year seems to be easily achievable. But please keep in mind, that the oldest hub is 2 y.o.

Before some time I updated almost daily (especially in the start), now I'm adding 2-6 new free sites each month.

As Greenie mentioned, I do interlinking for SEO purposes, some of my hubs have PR2 already. I expect that it helps especially to free sites as such. You simply can't have big traffic on index if it isn't exceptionally popular (as we all know, G can recognize it very well).

Generally we have blogs or tgps as the hub for the domains we use for galleries. Not quite what you are talking about but you are right about the index. This is a great thread.
