vid caps

i have ten dv tapes for a site i am working on. anyone know of a proggie that i can use to get crisp high quality vid caps with from them? hope i can explain. just let the video play and i click every time i want to grab the frame to a directory and then save the batch and watermark them for my site. thanks.

Why not just do a screen grab of the movie playing when you see what you want?

i was thinking that but i need to do about 100-200 caps per video for picture content

Pinnacle 8 will do this and much more, cost less then $80 at best buy.

Super easy to use.

ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I just tpyed all this stuff and browser crashed before I could post it haha anyways.
I do vid caps and have for the past 4yrs and searched for something to grab it automatically.I test this with AVI and MPG and you'd think AVI would be the crisper but theres not much if any difference in the two with this program.I just choose auto thumbs and have option of milliseconds or number of thumbs its called Snatchit.I saw a post here afew months back where someone asked the same question.

Excellent suggestions guys! This seems like a question brought up more and more frequently. I've been wondering the same as well, and the programs you've recommended seem to be nice solutions. |bananna|

Dude, you can download a trial version and see for yourself. The software is only $25. I just bought a copy because it does exactly what it says it will do and is going to save me $25 in time before the week is over.

I use a program called Random Frame and it does just what the name implies. But it does it better than any program I have ever seen. when I load up an AVI in it set it to about 400 set the quality to 100% I can increase the size of the cap to 800x545 (since the resolution is 352x240) and I can get very high quality grabs out of it, some could almost pass as digital stills. It also has the option of going through and picking exactly what image you want one at a time.
I then go through the entire 'set' of pictures and delete redundancies or blurry images. out of 400 grabs i can usually save anywhere from 200-300. This doesn't take any time to delete them since I just slideshow quickly and delete the pics I don't like.

I've been working with Snatchit for a few months now, does a great shot.. and as far as I know screen caps can never be "crystal clear"
