HTM or HTML?
Does it matter which extension (HTM or HTML) you use in regards to optimizing your site for the search engines?
I always use index.html for my index page, and name everything else as .htm. What do you guys think? |juggle| |
It doesn't matter, either one.
|
I always try to link to directories and not pages if I'm able.
|
All the category pages on link-o-rama.com are .htm pages & I'm still getting SE results, so it probably doesn't matter as far as the SE spiders are concerned.
|
As long as Googlebot can find your default index.. it can be called anything you like
This will depend on your server setup and the way you link to sites/pages. htm/html/shtml etc makes no diff... As GG said.... Most of my pages are .shtml and all are ranked DD |
I believe the only difference between .htm and .html is that Billy Gates could not handle a four letter extension.

Nice, thanks. :)
Just one of those weird naming things I never knew if there was a standard for. |
