A little advice needed

I have thousands of mpegs that are about a min long. If I could put them together, the end of one would match he beginning of the next.

Is there a piece of software that does this?

Ordix Mpack Pro

On the server side you can use mpgtx for that.

Works well and is free. :)
I've used the Mac port of it which has a decent GUI.

I picked up DangerDave's product and it is nice. While it isn't free, it is cheap :)

So Dave
I get this software and put together a bunch of mpegs. I check it out on my pc and it works fine. I put it online and it stops where the 2 files are merged. There support sucks...I read about the problem in their FAQ and they say use a different media viewer. That's what I want...you need to download a different viewer because this does not work with windows media player.

Any other ideas?

mpeg join

Easy and free software.

Jim 2004-05-14 04:19 PM

Well guys, I downloaded both of those programs and neither of them work. I mean, they just come up "not responding".

Slinx 2004-05-14 04:58 PM

mpgjoin - the real one

Sorry, the last link was to the wrong software.

Jim 2004-05-14 05:08 PM

hmmmm
That one only seems to work by joining mpegs with a big mpg
Do I need to convert the mpgs to mpegs or can I just rename them?

Slinx 2004-05-14 05:35 PM

Is there a difference between .mpeg and .mpg?
I never did rename anything. I don't know if it can join thousands of vids in one run. I would make 10 minute vids and at the end I would join those clips to one.

DangerDave 2004-05-14 05:43 PM

Jim, :(

I have only used it for a couple of things and it worked ok, It was the best of a bad bunch of things I found when looking fora joiner.

Sorry I cant offer any brilliant advice.;(

Jim, there is no difference as fr as I know between a .mpeg and a .mpg file. You should be able to just rename it and be okay assuming they are both compliant with the player in the encoding. One of the reasons for the difference might be that DOS and older versions of windows could not handle files with extensions other than three characters. Good luck.

Jim,

I just ran a bit of a test with Ordix, and it all worked for me.

4 mpgs edited and then joined gave me one long mpg

uploaded and run in WMP...

I had this same trouble with a free tool I used to stick vids together... sometimes it would work and other times the image would freeze at the first join whilst the sound continued.

It wasn't terribly important so i gave up the idea.. but was later recommended this as a solution:
http://www.seller-club.com/~vcdcut/

I didn't try it myself but the person that recommended it seemed to know exactly what the issue was and was sure this would work at the time.. might be worth a look.

jim i was in your same situation a few weeks ago

the best and quickest one i could find is

http://www.boilsoft.net/download/avi_mpg_rm_joiner.exe

http://boilsoft.com/download.html

it works fast and easy and has 30day trial (no hassle etc)
