Welcome To Thursday Everyone :)
Good morning peoples :)
Well, I have AC on the main floor of the house now & boy it is SWEET! After 3 summers of not having it & sweating like a pig when I worked, I'm actually looking forward to working this summer :D I have some running around to do this morning, but I should be back on here this afternoon until Survivor comes on :) |
Good Morning folks |waves|
As I type it is 73°F (23°C), beautiful day ahead today :) |
I can't imagine life without A/C, no wait I have these memories of hell when I was young.
From my air conditioned home to my air conditioned car to the air conditioned gym and later to an air conditioned mall. Like life is about going from air conditioning to air conditioning, I'm an air conditioned girl. It's hot and muggy here with a chance of afternoon storms. Actually that is the weather for the next six months. Hyper Jump Star Gate is ready for boarding. Better hurry up before the Vorions get there. |
Good morning :)
Living without AC sucks ass. I bought my house 4 years ago and it has central air. I remember the condo I lived in had no air and you'd just sit there sweating watching TV at night. I did at least buy a window mount air conditioner for our bedroom so we could sleep ok back then. Today is looking to be awesome out. Mid 80's or higher for today and tomorrow. |bananna
Good Morning All :) Can I ask what the hell happen to spring ?
|
Spring? That was last week - LOL
It does seem strange that Jim was talking aobut snow 2 or 3 weeks ago & now we're talking about 80 deg & AC :) Which reminds me - the pool gets open this weekend - I'll be in the hot tub Saturday night :D |
Spring???
Only two seasons where I live, nice and hot and unbearable hot. Well we do have a hurricane season. LOL |
Good morning to all :)
What really sucks about summer is all the fucking ants that i have roaming the house. And they love it when the kiddies leave all that good candy and open pop bottles around.|angry
Morning gang..
We start moving to the new house tomorrow..and it has no air conditioning..but we have a window unit for the bedroom at least..I think next year we will probably install a new heating/air system..not this year..can't wait to start to sweat.. But the house is near a lake surrounded by trees so maybe it wont be that bad.. |
Good afternoon all :)

Ants…
There is these small red ones here that attack you and sting you like bees called Fire Ants. Then there is these giant cockroaches called Palmetto Bug. They eat ants and just about anything else they find. They are all over the place down here. Sometimes if you move a rock or something hundreds of them come running out. They are get pretty big, I've seen ones as big as a baby mouse. At night you can hear them walking across your windows. You have to be careful when outdoors here. You can't sit in the grass or you may end up with fire ant stings all over. The palmetto bugs seem to manage to end up trying to hide by running up your leg on the inside of your pants. Remind me why I live here again? |
We have ants too, but just now it's still cold enough so I haven't seen them yet. Couple of wasps came inside when we had both doors open, though.
Here in Finland almost nobody has air conditioning, except in cars. Maybe because the weather is in minus all year except these three-five months from May to September. At summer we can have as much as 30+ C - 86 F. That's hot. Most European hotels don't have air condition either. It was nice to have that when we were in Asia, BTA, there were almost 40+ C all the time. Air is kind of wet, when you go outside of air conditioned hotel it's a little bit of like sauna here in Finland. Well, we usually have some 80+ C in sauna...really crazy finns like 100+ C and more... |

First time I saw cockroaches was when I was in Moscow hotel at Leningrad (now St.Petersburg). I woke up at middle of the night and thought what was the strange voice I heard. I got out of bed and crunch crunch went a new strange voice and I felt something broked below my feets. When I got the lights on, I saw that the whole floor was full of cockroaches who tried to runaway. They didn't like the lights, so I let the lights on. I cannot go back to sleep right away, I needed some Stoli first, lol! Well, in Canary Island there was cock roaches in a bungalow hotel that cost some $800 a week, but at that time I was customed to them. We were so drunk all the time there that we hardly saw them, and usually walk over them without noticing, lol! |bananna
100+C? Uh... when summer kicks in and you don't have airc. only fans, that's like sauna without the happy ending.. and needless to say, I don't have airc. But the ants never come in, they stay in the garden lol. The birds, especially the blackbirds come in or fly in often, their nests are so close to the windows but I don't mind it :)
Cleo, that bug is ugly, uh. I know it eats the ants but I don't like bugs even if they respect my leg and territory.. |jester| PS Picking up mom today and bringing her home with an ambulance care soon so missed out sleep.. oh well, we can sleep enough later. |
Ants? Don't get me started - LOL Every year the exterminator comes & sprays & the ants find that they don't like it outside, so them come in the house - LOL
|
That's weird.. mine can behave lol both the black and red ones. They make a few attempts every summer, 1-2 days only but I always have the spray at hand and I win the game, they keep marching outside.

And a fine Thursday to all...
Sorry for my late arrival but...here I am :) |
Cleo you can keep the red ants.
My wife and i stayed at her step sisters house in Tampa in 1990 when we had are first run in with the palmetto bug. When she seen how big it was she jumped of the foor and landed in my lap (i was in the chair) and would not get off my lap for about an hour and never went to sleep that nite either LOL Man they are fast little bastards. So now she says ill deal with the snow:) |
