Our Up to date Government
I send all of our content we shoot to be registered with the Library of Congress about once a year. It’s usually 20 cd’s or so of images. But this last time I decided to burn it on DVD since I can get 4.7 gigs of images compared to 700 mbs and this would save time, and $ for cd’s and shipping.
Well, I messed up the paper work (my fault) so they wrote me an email and after a some discussion we cleared up the issue, they resent me the paper work, I made the correct changes and sent it back which added a few months on the time it takes to process. Then yesterday I finally got my certificate of copyright…. So I thought…. They can not read the DVD’s since they do not have a DVD rom. Is that nutty or what? I would think they would have up to be up to date with the current PCs technology when dealing with multimedia since THAT IS THEIR JOB. So here I am burning cd after cd and I still have 32 to go. Nice way to spend the next day or so. ho hum....... |
Don't worry. I heard that all of the computers Haliburton is installing in Iraq's new government offices will have DVD roms! Of course, armour plated computers are very expensive, do don't expect it to be cheap.

You could send them your opinion by putting it all on floppy disks.
Use the ones that really were floppy. |
Or if you really want to make a statement send all your content on tape..
On the other hand.. they will probably have the equipment for that |
Thats just plain sad....
Glad to know all my tax dollars are being put to use.....|pissed| |

Knowing Uncle Sam, they DO have the equipment to read that. |
Now THAT is a painfully underfunded library system when even the almighty Library of Congress doesn't have a DVD Rom.
As an ex-librarian I can only shake my head. |
Think yourself luck you are in America, speak to the British Library and they will ask "What is a computer ?"
