You all know about *banner blindness* or whatever it is called - well, when I open a new page at GG&|Jim I find myself actually consciously moving my mouse outside and then around the banners and immediately scrolling down to the content - so that I don't have to get that loud sound/noise/static/whatever it is that shocks me and (even more important) the people within earshot. This has become an automatic mouse move while here.

In effect I have become trained to avoid even mousing over the banners; let alone looking or clicking.

Interesting what damage a little extra money for publishers could potentially cause. If the entire net starts doing this... all banners... Adsense... Thumbnails?

I still look and click on the banners even though they make me jump when I mouse over them because they are targeted - but established mainstream developers != mom and pop / college / AOL / customers.

(Total random |newbie| here in adult/LL - lurking for the last few weeks. BTW, this is my favorite board - even if everything on it made noise I would still appreciate the talent and participate; this is the best adult board I have found ---- by far)

Actually its an ingenious new plan. It encourages you to sign up to make the big time green, to pay for the hopsital bills from the heart attack it gave you!

I find myself at a loss for words when trying to describe ads that make sound.

I do the exact same thing. I used to look at the top banners before those things, now I just get by them as quick as I can.
