is it OK to use the sponsors FHG templates

Is it ok to download the sponsors FHG template and host it on your own server. I mean if the sponsor allows that, which im sure most will. I am talking about the new and fresh sites that are out there so the template isnt oversaturated. Will most tgps accept this. The thing is I dont have any $ to spend on a TGP design. And I am not much of a designer myself

Doing that would get you banned at many places.

What about just using the top header of the site you are promoting

Cleo 2004-05-30 05:14 PM

As long as you make up your own designs you should be fine.

You can use bits and pieces of a sponsor's promotional material in your designs as long as it is ok with the sponsor but if you use too much then it is going to end up looking like a sponsor template.

You have to remember that us list owners already add most of the sponsor stuff in under our referral codes so we don't want stuff that looks the same submitted to us too.

Submitting a gallery hosted by you that is actually hosted by a sponsor will get you banned at most places. |sad|

However, if you take the content and make your own layout you might get it listed. :D

EDIT: provided they offer the same content in their webmasters area for you to use.

Some sponsors also explicitly DO NOT allow the use of their hosted galleries or their headers on webmasters servers.

Yeah Seb,

I'm not sure your assumption about most allowing you to copy and host their hosted content is correct.. and if you mean the images as well, I am sure many would not have licenses covering your domains for that use.

IMHO you dont need fancy gallery templates for linksites anyway.. a good sales pitch and relevent content is far more worth focussing on.

I posted this question over at Cozy Campus last week - What sells better, the galleries/free sites with steroid induced graphics or the more plain 2-3 color and text ones? Most stated that the more simple, the better the conversions. Would you all agree with this?

If you aren't good at design, don't worry about it. Just use a program like Arles to make your thumbs and then right some great text to get people to click through to the sponsor.

I got another question. Does using a header of the site you are promoting increase your clickrate (the header is not a clickable link) or it doesnt do much.

With Lotzadollars you can download the freesites, galleries and
content and use them as you see fit (as long as you are
promoting our sites) but you would prolly get banned if you
submitted the galleries/freesites unchanged. Hit me up on ICQ if
you need anything (custom content, video clips, niche stuff etc..)

Yes, slick graphics don't sell as well as amateurish looking galleries...
